Audi A3 sound issues

I have a problem with sound in audi a3 2014.
When I start the car most of the time there is no sound at all.
And then the sound appears after 5-10 mins.
Sometimes rarely, it works from the start. I have tried restarting mmi, and even updating software, but nothing helps.

I have this too in my A3 2017. I discovered it only is the case when I have DAB+ radio selected, FM radio almost start instantly.

For me it doesn't work in any mode, its only sound issue, cd doesn't work nor bluetooth, anything, calls, navigation - basically no sound at all, but everything on display works fine.

Since the fault is intermittent and across all audio sources but with a pattern, suggests either a dry solder joint inside the 5F unit in the glovebox or the unit has ****** itself - known issue due to insufficient cooling on both standard audio and Audi Sound System - neither are a cheap fix.

There are some other threads on this where people send off their 5F unit to get them refurbed / chips resoldered.

That said, get it diagnosed professionally before paying for a refurb.
