First post ever .... apologies in advance.

A new to me A6 C7 3.0TDI 2013 was showing the below two codes when scanned with VCDS, it was November so I wasn't sure that the AC was working properly or not.

1) 0269 Control Circuit for A/C Compressor - B10A9 29 [008] Signal Implausible.
2) 01232 A/C Compressor Regulator Valve (N280) - 012 Electrical Fault in Circuit.

Root cause was a faulty BCM (body control module) Cent. Elect. (J519).

Fault Finding Steps:

1. Disconnected N280 2-pin connector and measured resistance - 12ohms (proved it was electrically OK).

2. Whilst N280 was disconnected I measured on the supply side - 14v dc with AC button ON and 0v dc with AC button OFF.

3. Applied 12v dc Directly to N280 - Audibly heard a click and subsequent clicks as 12v dc was applied and removed (proved it was mechanically ok).

4. I did a continuity check of both wires back BCM J519 - all OK.

5. Using part number 1J0973702 connector, I made a light bulb circuit and plugged it in place (build became N280) - Bulb turned ON & OFF with AC button.

6. Removed bulb circuit.

7. Using Part numbers 1J0973702 & 1J0973802 I made a inline circuit to measure current.

8. I plugged in N280 using my inline jig and had my multimeter setup for amps - Measured 600 mA with AC button ON and 000mA with AC button OFF.

So at this stage I was more than happy that the N280 and the circuit was OK.

9. Whilst I had the jig in place I took advantage and used a scope to check the PWM - no PWM control was taking place, line was straight and on 14v dc. This makes sense later (step 9 - PWM was showing 100% in VCDS).

10. Using VCDS I looked at Address 09: Cent Elect. (j519). I looked at measuring blocks, block 034 and this was reporting:

AC Regulating (N280) activation - ON
AC Regulating (N280) current - 0.0mA
AC Regulating (N280) PWM - 100%

** AC Regulating (N280) current - being at 0.0mA was the moment of confirmation the J519 (BCM) was faulty **

11. I found and replaced the BCM J519 with an identical unit (£50).

12. Copied coding from original unit using VCDS.

13. Had component removal removed by an independent (£80). 20 min job, no issues or side effects (Leicester based company).

14. Using VCDS I looked at Address 09: Cent Elect. (j519). I looked at measuring blocks, block 034 and this was NOW reporting:

AC Regulating (N280) activation - ON
AC Regulating (N280) current - 388.0mA
AC Regulating (N280) PWM - 35%

15. Cleared the error codes, all fixed.

Like I said its my first post, so I'm really sorry for any rules that I've broken.
