Hi All,

Would like to start a new thread of the OBD mod, and share some of the tested changes i have done to my car.

All the changes will required with the ignition ON and then open the vehicle's hood. And remember to make backups before apply any changes.

Forget to mention my is A3 Sline package with 10 inch virtual cockpit. and there are other mods i would like enable but haven't successes yet

  • Climatronic Auto Fan Speed - have this enabled but the fan level doesn't appear
  • Lap Counter
  • Lap Timer
  • TPMS in Dashboard
  • Video In Motion
  • Lock/Unlock Acoustic Confirmation
  • Engine Torque Display
  • Engine Power Display
  • Transmission Temperature
  • G-Meter Display
  • Change the splash welcome screen
  • Enable the sport view - some how this is missing on my sline package :(
  • Enable the extended view - this is also missing on my car (view button function on the steering wheel)
  • Reassign the * button to Drive Select
 
Ive managed to enable to ' Lock/Unlock Accoustic confirmation', i'll see if i can find what i done.
 
To get the lock/unlock acoustic conformation i had to enable the following

Central Electronics
'Quittungston_hmi_einstellbar' option in the MMI to turn beep on/off
'Quittierungston_bei_entriegeln' beep at unlocking
'Quittungs_ton_bei_verriegeln' beep at locking

The menu option appears under central locking.

No warranty's etc, this is what worked on mine, it may not work on yours, and as always backup before doing anything :)

Do you have the Quittierton global set to active too?

Did you set all 3 options ? Its a very subtle sound

Press and hold the power button on the scroll wheel next to the gear lever/selector. You will need to hold it for about 10 seconds until the MMI reboots.

You can also reboot via the developer menu, hold the top right corner of the touch screen (My is RHD) with two fingers for a few secs and it will activate the developer menu. And you can reboot the mmi from there

Yes, tried all 3 options enabled and also with the Quittierton global set to active too. Other than the mechanic lock sound from the doors, i don't hear other sound. Maybe my car doesn't come with the OEM security system?

Thanks. Is Pro version necessary? Do I need the "credits" from OBD11 to activate the features you listed above? or I can just grab a basic one and somehow input different value to activate/disactivate?
 
And where did you get your OBDeleven? They don’t ship to HK ..
 
I have not been able to get transmission temperature to show. I've even went back and fw with support guy from obd eleven. Their approach from adaptation side of 17 module just does not work. But while browsing the long coding of 17 i found transmission temperature there ( not activated ). Tried to activate it but i just did not work. For sure we are missing something because with other tool you can enable this.

The real time transmission temperature, tire pressure and G meter are showing under MMI RS monitor.

I have looked the coding log and there are couples display SportHMI setting under the 5F Multimedia > Vehicle menu operation

menu display SportHMI
Not activated
menu display SportHMI clamp 15 off
Not activated
menu display SportHMI over threshold high
Not activated
menu display SportHMI standstill
Not activated
menu display SportHMI after disclaimer
Not activated

Maybe you need to have those set to active first?
 
Well i don't know what is the correct coding sequence and i am not really keen on trial and error on my car yet. The fact is that transmission temp was one of the reasons why i buyed the obdeleven for, and now to find out that it does not work .. thats false advertising.

I think obdeleven is a bit misleading on the transmission temperature and TPMS data as they are showing on the MMI instead of the virtual cockpit. Below is how the transmission temperature data shown on the MMI, found the image on the Chinese forum.

Their one click apps are way behind of other competitor offering, the only thing i like is the obdeleven can done the changes via iphone. We will have to do the long code our self then.

As far as the coding, i found the A3 8Y and the Golf MK8 are sharing the same code base. There are more contributors on the MK8 forum willing to share their MOD regarding the obd changes.

Hi bro, may i know how to use the obdeleven set the gear position show at D mode, now my A3 only show the gear position on sport mode like S1, S2. it can be show on D mode too?

The Q3 does this as standard, so I’m sure it can be achieved on the A3

I was found on YouTube, some guys at old version of OBDEleven at 02 transmission it had more selection included single gear display, but at my new version and connected to my 8Y it was missing…..
 
After checking the online manual for my VIN via the myaudi app link, for the acoustic lock/unlock, there is a footnote in the alarm system description bottom of page 42 that states Acoustic notification - not available on all export models.

Yes, that's correct I know in Germany they aren't allowed to have it apparently, but we used to be able to turn it on - On my 8P model it started to appear in the menu and then on the 8V I activated using the Carista dongle - I think OBD11 can switch it on but not sure

tried obd11 pro as well as VCDS, the option appears for tone on lock/unlock on the car settings menu but it does nothing.
 
I have the digital cockpit on my A3 as it looks one pic1. I tried the upgrade to virtual cockpit with navigation from functions on demand and the sport cockpit looks like the 2nd pic. Is there any way to upgrade from digital to virtual from odb11? Or even better upgrade to the virtual cockpit of the s3 or rs3 like the last pic?

The S3 is the same as Pic 2 - To get the last one you need Virtual Cockpit Plus which is on the A3/S3 Vorsprungs or RS3 and Edition 1 models - Plus wasn't an option on the S3 Standard or Sort and S-Line A3's

Can I permanently upgrade to the second pic virtual cockpit from obd 11?
