Hi all.
I had a brand new S3 (W511 SMO) from 2000 to 2006, and always regretted selling it.
Have been through a 2014 S3 and a 2015 RS3 which were superb cars.
I've had a M135i since March 2020, just as lockdown hit, and in 2 years the car has only done 7k miles.
It's looking very unlikely I will be asked to work from the office again, so I started looking for a fun car to buy, I can then sell the M135i afterwards.
I've ended up finding a 2003 S3 in the same colour as my original. 4 owners, 109k miles, fantastic service history. Got a complete warranty package for 18 months for £399.
I haven't enjoyed driving a car this much for years. So glad to be back in an audi.
Is there anything I should look out for with a 19 year old S3?

Regards.
Steve.

Welcome back!

Is that Avus silver? Looks a lovely colour in great condition, congrats in finding it, not that many nice ones out there for sale anymore.

Welcome back to the group! That’s a long time away but the original S3 is still cool and we are still active on this group!

Looks like a nice example. Look after it and it’s unlikely to lose any value now.

Glad you still like em coming from the likes of an RS3. From my previous experience apart from the normal maintenance and even though there aren't faulty I would put a new MAF, a new fuel pump, new actuator on the turbo and change all the vacuum hoses. These completely transformed how my non modified APY car felt and mileage improved a lot as well.

1st issue. Heard a clunk, vibration left front when setting off. Luckily it was just an engine mounting bolt that needed replacing!
Mechanic said car was very tidy, even had bilstein suspension.
Booked in for a wax oyl of subframe and other components next.

Its amazing how dealers are still picking these up as part ex's and still making money on the overall deal. If it was not in good condition then I would not be surprised, but it seems on this one the previous owner could not be bothered going through privately to sell or he thought he got a very good price for it, bearing in mind he most probably got stitched up the other end. Anyway, is you full warranty - full as in parts and labour? sounds a bit cheap not that I know how much they are these days.
Not sure if you've replied this in the wrong thread?
