Pilot sport 4/5 question

Hello all,

I picked up a 3 door 2007 S3 8p manual in sprint blue last week and it needs 4 new tyres. My bro has a mk7 golf GTI and swears by pilot sport 4’s. I’m opting for either PS 4 or 5’s but everywhere that I look they seem to be offering XL load rating. I understand these to be reinforced and heavier for say an A4 or A6. Is the XL rating correct for my car or should I be looking for a different spec?

I always had XL on mine, that's whats indicated in the manual too.

I think the pS5 is a game changer in terms of wear. Not many comparisons but i'd expect the 5's to perform same as 4's knowing michelin but with improved wear almost double the life of competitors Unless you really need the S series I'd consider the PS5

That’s kind of what I’d expect really. It’s more of a compromise than the 4S so quicker in the wet but slower in the dry yet quicker in the dry than its predecessor. I’d imagine the 5S can’t be far away from launch now.
