Hood Strut

Hood lifter gave up on my a3 sportback after about 10 years. How often your lasted and did anyone used aftermarket one or original.
Mine was open but not closed fully that might be the cause in the cold weather.

Funny you ask - mine just went a week ago - after 16 years !!!
I am in process of buying a new one.

Mines 12 years old and ok, I would buy OE if I had a failure.

The factory fitted struts are Stabilus items, there’s no need to pay silly Audi Genuine Parts prices as Autodoc sell them.
I’ve renewed both the rear hatch and bonnet struts on my A3 fairly recently at not a great cost and it’s made things a lot nicer, it’s surprising how tired old struts can become and what a difference new ones can make…..
