I don't know if it is my age and the era of cars that I came from but the thought that the first oil change is 30000kms or 2 years just fills me with trepidation. I know tolerances and build quality of modern engines is much better but it still makes me nervous. Am I worrying unnecessarily or should I get the oil changed at 15000kms or 1 years. Your thoughts and opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

How long are you going to keep the car? If it 3-4 years then get rid don't waste your money. If you plan to keep it for a good few years then regular oil changes will be better for the engine.
Then I would be changing it every 10K miles or yearly which ever comes first. My cars are done every 6 months or 5K miles.
