Please Help Me, Ignition Barrel replacement.

All, please can anybody help as I have been on this since 9:00am this morning.
I have finally managed to remove the two shear bolts that hold the barrel in but
I cannot seem to slide it off of the colum.
It has about 10mm movement back and fowards but thats it and I cannot see any
clips to release.
Car is an 09 2.0 TDI Manual.
Really need your help.

All done now so the refit will be tomorrow.

Thanks, this was the one I was following up until he slid the blach part off of the colum which I could not do and then a friend found 2 tabs and the barrel dropped out.
I have the old and the new side by side here on my desk ready for a refit tomorrow.

All I have swapped them over at the weekend and the car would fire but not run for more than about 2 seconds.
Today I have put the new key blades into the old fobs and all is as good.
Apparently this was an immobiliser issue.
