Hello,

long time since I last made a post, but still view the forum regularly.

I have purchased some new wheels from Rotiform, 21” BTLs which they said would fit… well seems they don’t. They confirmed everything with me, model, Year etc.

The offset seems far too aggressive, the rim pokes out past the arch.

Has anyone run 21x9.5 ET25? I know these are RS6 standard sizes.

The tyres I have had fitted are 275/30/21 but I don’t think even with a smaller width tyre this would ever sit inside the arches. It looks like if lowered the rim would foul the arch and after having the front end painted it’s not a risk I’m wanting to take.

I have a C7.5 BiTDI

I can’t have the backs machined as they are already very close to the caliper.

Would lowering it really bring them in 10+mm?

I’m just all out of options £1300 in tyres, £2000 for the wheels. It’s an expensive mistake.

I hope they will work with me to resolve it but I’m just seeing if anyone else has had issues with the rim size.

you'd need some serious stretch to get those tucking under the arches

I don’t think even with say a 255 they would work.

the rim is out past the arch. I can’t see how lowing it will camber it in that much. The rim is proud of the arch.

thanks for your response! Hopefully someone who knows what the max offset is and width combo.

As above, the only possible solution may be a stretch, try willtheyfit.com to see how different sized tyres will compare to your original setup and take it from there.

As I understand, as long as the tread is inside the arch, that’s all that matters from a roadworthy perspective.

I’m going to test fit again today, and put some thing staight against the edge of the rim and measure the rim to arch distance. My end goal was for these to be tucked in the arches. I’ll report back

Right, by the look of the photo that would not be possible to achieve with these rims, you either need a different offset, which can then potentially cause inside rubbing issues or smaller width, or combination or both...

But if you wanted to make them work, then reducing tyre width is your only option.

So the rim is 13mm outside of the arch, regardless of tyre size these would never work.

the offset is far too agressive.

not sure how Rotiform could say these fit, there’s no room behind to have the backs machined due to the calipers.

see what options they give me.

You have a plausible reason to work things out with them to get a better suited replacement/refund, especially if they also recommended the current fitted tyre size.

Their data may of course come from the C7 RS6, which would explain the reasoning behind the recommendation.

Keep the thread updated, the design looks great, so it'll be great to see them work in the required spec!

I know you've just had the front end painted, but how about some good old-fashioned arch rolling? Should be achievable without causing any damage if your body shop knows what they are doing, and that would be perfect as you'd have easily the most aggressive stance you could wish for! Win win win!
Sorry to hear the position they put you in, hopefully you'll work it out bud.

I have dropped the wheels off the weekend just gone, the rears fitted worse than the fronts by 2mm.

hopefully I will get my money back for the wheels, I left them at a Rotiform distributor to get collected.

I’m just going to get a set of 21” rotors for the interim until I get the car lowered. Then I’ll be able to see what is achievable with the offset and width.

thanks for your reply!

Glad it sounds like it’s getting sorted. I hope you took plenty of measurements whilst you had the chance so that he next set you buy fits absolutely perfectly!

This! Always good to have an idea of the wheel specs you need rather than letting them send you what they think fits best. I know someone who bought a set of wheels from WheelBase a few years back and they simply send you ‘best fit’, don’t even list the available offsets on their website. The offset they sent him was laughable, you almost couldn’t see the wheel inside the arch.

It’s a subjective topic, for some people OEM fitment is best, for others just inside the arch, for others flush with the arch.

Anyway I hope you get a full refund, no question it’s their mistake and you shouldn’t be out of pocket.
