The SQ5 was completely unresponsive this morning after four days idle. I could only open the driver’s door using the key, no lights, no dash and no response from the starter button. My local garage brought a booster pack round and it started. I put my Ctek charger on it and it’s reached stage 5 after about five hours. It is now starting as normal.
But I’m concerned about the effect that such a deep discharge in cold weather over five days will have had on the remaining life of the battery. It’s the original battery from new, so coming up to five years old. It might seem a bit soon for replacement but I’m not wanting to take any chances. my garage is going to test it on Monday, and unless they report back that it is magically restored as new, I’ll be asking them to order a new one for fitting on Tuesday.
