Due to car thefts in our area, 5 Mercs gone inside a week, I turned off the convenience key entry system on my 2021 plate S3 via the MMI. As expected I can't open the doors without pressing the unlock on the key fob first. However, I can still open the tailgate as long as I have the key within range. This means that a relay theft attempt would still be able to gain access to the interior through the the rear hatch.

Does anyone know how I can set the tailgate switch to only be active when the car is unlocked please?

Why don't you keep your keys in a faraday pouch or box? It'll block all signals from the keys

They are both in a pouch and a tin, belt and braces. I was just surprised to find that I could open the tailgate without unlocking the car first when I had turned off the convenience key function.
