Just in the process of hardwiring the dash cam in the Q7 and can’t seem to get the cam to turn off, would expect it to power down when I lock the car. The kit apparently has a battery drain cut off but hesitant to put it to the test.

My understanding is that this will probably be due to me putting in an ‘always on’ state fuse. Can anyone tell me a slot which isn’t always on (5a) or otherwise give some advice?!

Cheers

Get yourself a multimeter and probe the fuse box in the passenger foot well. There you will find ignition and perma live fuses you can tap.

If you have a hardwire kit then chances are you need to connect to both ignition and perma live so the camera knows when the car is on and off and has a feed for when the vehicle is off.
