If you are like me and have a 2011 or running BCM 615 and can’t code out the DIS number plate error through VCDS you need to use resistors to get rid of the fault.

I’ve done a bit of the work and thought I would share for others to find the research easier.

The standard festoon bulb is 37ohm 13.5v 5w. The power dissipated at 13.5v on the festoon is 4.9w so in order to get the same resistance and also keep the resistors cool I ended up using 2x100ohm 2w metal resistors in parallel. This gives you 50ohms resistance on each bulb and also only 1.8w of power dissipated (heat).

In order to keep it looking very factory as well I opted to cut a small rectangle in the black casing on the OEM LEDs. This helps the resistors fit nicely and also space for cooling. I’m planning to put heatsinks on the resistors as we for extra peace of mind but so far they run less hot than the standard bulb. Also DIS numberplate is gone and isn’t intermittent.
