Well then.

Time for a new thread.

A couple of years ago I acquired a 1998 A4 Avant SE in cactus green with the infamous 110AFN Engine, FWD.

I purchased it off a mate on 120k miles who had enough when it blew its oil cooler and filled the coolant up with black yoghurt.

It has a few issues to sort out. But is a sound base.

The Plan:

To restore it to full factory spec and “show” condition with the exception of a few subtle mods.

The List:
Rear axle beam refurbishment.
Brakes all round
Suspension all round
Interior Recondition
Bodywork repairs and corrections

At present the back axle is only connected to the body via the shocks. The bushings are so far gone that it’s sat on the bolts now in the bush holes

Done so far:
-Replaced the headlights with Dual H7 Bosch units
-Replaced front indicators with new to suit the headlamps
- Replaced the very ruined original wheels with the spare 16” Road Americas off my Passat (will be staying on there)
- Timing belt replaced last Autumn to make sure it didn’t snap
- Battery replaced with a 110 Exide 800CCA
- Oil cooler replaced, engine oil changed and cooling system flushed out with water & dishwasher powder.

I’ve finally after 2 years of it being parked up, raised her from slumber and parked her next to my S4/Jeep which has put me in “Get on it” Mode

Ultimately it’s destined to be the Mrs first car so want it right.

I’ve given the manky interior a quick clean today along with the engine bay, and jet washed the forest that was growing all over it off. Needless to say, it started first turn on the key, legend engine. (I do keep the battery on a maintainer to keep it healthy)

Watch this space as it’ll all be getting posted here as I go. Hopefully get it Ina. Good enough state that the Mrs will bring it to the Audi shows alongside my S4 when she can drive it

Timing cover is absent because I still need to time the pump up properly with VCDS after the belt change.
