Can anyone advise:
1. Does Audi A4 has wet clutch or dry and how often do we need to change or is it for life?
2. Other than Audi, Can anyone recommend Specialist (in Gearboxes) garage in Newcastle who can carry out Dual mass flywell and clutch change?

thank you

Dry clutch if it's a manual, wet when DSG or any other automatic version. The dry version doesn't last a lifetime.. all depends on how you select gears and how long your foot applies pressure on the clutch group. As a rule of thumb the gearbox oil can stay in for 8 to 10 years but I'd change it every 4 years. 8 The DSG and automatic versions have to have the gearbox oil and gearbox filter changed every 40k.
Any VAG independent specialist or the main dealer for having the lot replaced. Use Google to find specialist near you and read the reviews so you can.pinpoint the one you like the most.

And in every case changing of the gearbox oil and clutch pressure group isn't cheap. DMF and clutch pressure group including a new slave cylinder costs about 450 pounds in parts, for oem spec from LuK or Sachs( best to avoid other brands) or if its the DSG oil and filter change you are looking at 300 to 350 pounds with them supplying the oil and filter and doing the work.

Again it's not cheap and I have seen loads of young cars endup on the scrappy because it just needs gearbox work done.

I believe only S-Tronic gearbox oil needs changing every 38k. I had my changed at all al VW dealer for £200 a couple of years ago.
The prices have gone up for the VAG spec oils... I just bought mine for a multitronic hence the reason why I pointed out the prices... you might be right about the 38k as the data I pulled from various sources ( including elsawin) all pointed to 40k... but I was specifically looking at multitronic gearboxes as that is what my car has... the DSG oil change service is identical to the multitronic oil service S tronic has a little less mileage but that might be because it's a Porshe evolution of the multitronic... the DSG is a VW evolution of the S-tronic but the S-tronic can take more NM and Torque than the 2 others, that's why the oil service is been cut shorter as it has to work a lot harder.
