ABS [Right side] Light & Traction light? [left side] -Showed ONCE
while underway - Ignition OFF/ON Lights cleared -

Checked ECU, no stored codes -

Completed 5 mile shopping run- no lights

Ideas , how can there be a warning light , with no stored code ??
[ are abs codes stored deeper in the ecu ?]

Tnx- Graham

Errorcodes will only be returned using VAG specific scanning software, like vcds /vcdslite or obdeleven.

It's usually the longitudinal or latitudinal sensors and the lights come on together when you accelerate over 50mph..

Using TORQUE Lite - most codes show up in the past - but this time, nothing shows as being stored
only mooching round town, when noticed it was on- not seen since

ive the feeling , there are codes stored at lower levels, could see with snap-on tuner +

lat accelaration sensor failed while back, that caused the brakes to be applied to inside rear wheel when turning right ..for a second , then disengaged and lights came on- but that had error codes stored [ one was #$£250 for new sensor]

Torque / Torque Pro doesn't show abs, traction control, airbag and EPC codes...

It will only return the EML codes, sometimes not quite right ones... (the legislted minimum every manufacture needs to allow generic access too)

I needed vcdslite to find out whether it was long or lat on my s3, it was the long one which is behind the glove box...

Only ONE Stored code showed as Off side front ABS sender , unexpected signal , intermittent
presume no ABS , No traction control

Try new sender first , if not could be the 'hub' but at 210,000 miles, had good innings

both lights came on because you cannot have traction control without the abs sensors. It sounds like it only happened once, maybe some debris was there for a minute.. the ABS / wheel speed sensors / setup is pretty poor in these, the cage on the hub gets corroded and the sensors get seized in the hub... the more recent VAG cars use a magnet inside the hub..
