Hi, I have a problem on both my DRL where they are flickering, they are fine on startup but after about 5 mins with the engine running they start to flicker/flash, any ideas?

Car is a 2014 s4

Thanks

Few similar posts online, but seems majority of owners claimed under warranty and Audi replaced the entire unit. Do you have VCDS and have you had the car scanned - anything?

Suspect you have bi-xenons with ballast, etc. With anything electrical related I'd be looking at the wiring frst. Try unplugging connectors and checking in case there's any oxidisation on contacts. You can use some contact cleaner. I've even used an emery board before on copper that's turned green. Also worth checking the grounding points too - if another member can point you to their location!

I don’t but I have Carista, It happened after I was playing around with the brightness, they were on 28% so turned them upto 100% and that’s when the issue started.

I’m unsure why the brightness was set to 28% in the first place. I have turned the brightness down to 5% (as low as it’ll go) and that’s basically switched them off but now I’m getting a DRL left and right fault ‍♂️♂️.

A private sale or from a garage?
If from the garage then it's their irresponsibility under any warranty that may exist.

Brightness was set at 28% as they are DRL and not headlights. They are on all the time so the lower brightness is 1) to not dazzle other road users and 2) to not burn out the LED etc

When using apps like carista you have to trust that their apps, one click functions or whatever you want to call them are written correctly because they mask what’s going on “behind the scenes” in order to make life easy for the end user.

My guess is you have one of two issues:

1) the “behind the scenes coding” is incorrect for your vehicle and left you with an issue. Visit a specialist to restore your original coding.

2) you turned it up to 100%, ie full voltage and you have done some damage. I see this all the time on VW golf’s where people activate USA running lights and then turn them up to 100%…. and then the halogen bulbs blow.

Your vehicles platform is very mature “coding” wise so my guess is number 2 is the issue.

Thanks for your reply!

Tbh I think you could be right with number 2, I think me turning them upto 100% has broken the modules ‍♂️♂️, I have 2 new on order so hopefully that fixes them, lesson learnt there! I just hope it’s not the LED themselves ‍♂️
