The question is, as it's a larger cooler, does it need slightly more dsg oil as it's twice the size & hypothetically circulates twice as much oil so to speak, depending on the internal design of the new cooler.

yes check the level and top it up
 
Given the process to service, you can't really check the oil level in the box, it's merely calculated by the amount you refill it with.

Ideally the manufacturer should state of there is a need for more oil, coolant wise is simple as we have the reservoir, but oil isn't as there's no level control or dipstick.

you can get it up to the correct temp and remove the drain plug and and see what the flow is like and if nothing comes out add fluid but if replacing the cooler It would be better to do a dsg service at the same time, as i did if you see my next vid
