Windows wind down problem

Winding down the driver window sounds like its going to crack/shatter - I've poured oil down in the hope it would oil the mechanism inside but it's still the same...help!

you'll need to replace it, any noise like that means the cable is partly broken and the metal bits have found their way around the moving parts.
