Here is my first attempt to start a thread that drags on for ever...or dies on its Ar$e

What was your first car and was it crapper than mine

I had a D reg 1.0 Fiat Uno that my dad got for free for doing a blokes gardening.

1976 Opel Ascona 1.9SR: hard to imagine, but back in 1976, this was one of the best affordable sports saloons around.

Just wanted to say I was born in 1977, so that car is older than me! :bye:

1st car I actually owned was a Silver Mk2 Golf 1.3C with GTI bits on it, 1st car I drove after I passed my test was a Mk3 Golf 1.4CL in bright Mettalic Green!

I had a mint white mk1 clio with 30k on the clock. Had it a month and it kissed the front end of a shogun at 45.

...loved it but then again who doesnt ever love their first car.
A very poignant sentiment...

This was my first car, a few weeks before selling it at the start of this year:
PuntoF.jpg

An S Reg Fiat Punto Sporting 1.2 16v. No dents/dings/scratches, paint work still like new, 4 year old (at that point!) 16" TSW Apex alloys, Abarth side skirts, Abarth Rear bumper, front splitter, clear indicators/repeaters, spoiler with brake LED and a custom exhaust with 3" 'straight out' tail pipe (very unusual for an exhaust designed to exit around the same place as the original Punto exhaust... most are just left to stick out at a funny angle!).

Anyway, I'm sure you get the idea! I loved this car, looked after this car and it obviously showed. However, less than 12 months later, this is how it looked on Sunday (11/11/2007):

:crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

This is not where the accident occurred, this is parked outside the owners house the day after. Apparently he came tanking down a (very) long, straight wet residential street, couldn't stop at a roundabout and ploughed on into the black and white arrow sign (a friend of my family living by the roundabout heard the noise and saw the car sitting in the middle of the roundabout). The fact it had the space-saver on before the accident wouldn't have helped (I saw it around town the day before).

It will come as no great surprise for you to learn the owner is 17 years old and this is his third accident in this car; two since getting his licence (about two months ago!) and one prior!! Both wings have gone, no bumper, lights or indicators, bonnet is bent across the middle, structure that supports the wings etc is bent downwards, tyre ripped off wheel (other side), rear bumper cracked, oh, and the tracking may be off a little now!

"My" poor baby!

Lesson learnt: Don't sell a car you become really attached to in the same area as you live... seeing a car you loved like this can be heart breaking! :crying:

I had a Peugeot 306 turbo Diesel M plate.
It was not bad for a first car and i did sell it locally LOL to someone i knew off.
LOL a learner driver, last i heard it had been in a small accident but nothing major..

1988 Golf mk2 1300. It was a belter of a car.

Well, mine was a Vauxhall Nova 1.2 merit ( Saloon) 1987, and again I loved it...was mint in colour and in mint condition, I`m pleased to say that in no way did I modify it, would have looked even more horrid...but was a great little motor!!!:hubbahubba:

Mk1 Escort 1300GT, with an 1100 diff and box, twin webbers, painted in signal red, with RS interior and suspension and minilite wheels, loved it.

1988 mk2 XR2. Bought it in 1994 for £2500 when I was 20yrs old. Insurance was £1100 TPFT. Was mint, 1 middle aged enthusiast/XR owners club owner from new, sod all miles, FSH, even had original radio & mats etc.

Only kept it 3 months tho, got fed up of £100 per month insurance. Altho I pay £90 a month now for my Evo:think: I think the performance difference justifies it tho:icon_thumright:

1st car lol it were a black rover 214i with some other letters after it. couldnt handle the road above 20 but what a car untill i blew it up in the most spectacular way...

Y reg 1981 Golf Mk1 in white. 5 speed 1781cc. £1100, and an absolute hound.

Changed the engine after a couple of months when I noticed it I was using so much oil I was driving the price of oil up! Had an Audi 80 sport lump from a scrappy put into it. Then the gearbox packed up. Fixed it and then a brake hose corroded and the brakes failed (which was interesting). Spent more time fixing it than driving it, but I guess thats half the fun of your first car.

£950 3rd party with Hyperformance!

was a superb car until it ended up wrapped around a lamp-post.. i then bought a 307 with same engine had that for a while until i sold it , and now its Audilcious time...2006 A3 2.0 TDi,
i bought an audi about a two weeks ago. then some bimbo blondy decided to scrape her car against mine whilst trying to park in the bay next too me. luckily i was comming out of tesco to witness it happen. Thats my motor vehicle history.

First car I owned was a Mk2 Escort 1.3GL. I was planning on doing it up with a few RS2000 bits but when it was stripped down the inner wings were too ****** to be repaired so it got scrapped.

First car I drove was a Mk1 Fiesta 1.1L with 1.3 Supersport engine and full Ghia interior trim. It was insured as a 1.3GL but still got paid out when I T-boned a Nova 12 months after I bought it.

1989 F reg 1.0 Polo C 'bread van' in white bought in 1994. Had it for nearly 3 years then bought the Ibiza in 1997, the speedster in 2001 and the S3 in 2004.

My first car (believe it or not) was a 2000 Audi S3. I waited more than 9 years to own a car since passing my test. I never actually needed a car during my academic years until I got my first job - but I always wanted an Audi. But needless to say, the pride of owning an S3 was truly immense. :rockwoot: Such an amazing car! I was overwhelmed. :)

It was great fun every time it rained the passenger got a shower, the roof looked like a jigsaw where the paint was peeling off,the clutch was completely shot(didn't need the peddle!)and I ended up clouting a row of traffic that decided to brake in front of me when the brakes weren't brilliant :icon_thumright:
