...loved it but then again who doesnt ever love their first car.
A very poignant sentiment...
This was my first car, a few weeks before selling it at the start of this year:
An S Reg Fiat Punto Sporting 1.2 16v. No dents/dings/scratches, paint work still like new, 4 year old (at that point!) 16" TSW Apex alloys, Abarth side skirts, Abarth Rear bumper, front splitter, clear indicators/repeaters, spoiler with brake LED and a custom exhaust with 3" 'straight out' tail pipe (very unusual for an exhaust designed to exit around the same place as the original Punto exhaust... most are just left to stick out at a funny angle!).
Anyway, I'm sure you get the idea! I loved this car, looked after this car and it obviously showed. However, less than 12 months later, this is how it looked on Sunday (11/11/2007):
This is not where the accident occurred, this is parked outside the owners house the day after. Apparently he came tanking down a (very) long, straight
wet residential street, couldn't stop at a roundabout and ploughed on into the black and white arrow sign (a friend of my family living by the roundabout heard the noise and saw the car sitting in the middle of the roundabout). The fact it had the space-saver on
before the accident wouldn't have helped (I saw it around town the day before).
It will come as no great surprise for you to learn the owner is 17 years old and this is his third accident in this car; two since getting his licence (about two months ago!) and one
prior!! Both wings have gone, no bumper, lights or indicators, bonnet is bent across the middle, structure that supports the wings etc is bent downwards, tyre ripped off wheel (other side), rear bumper cracked, oh, and the tracking may be off a little now!
"My" poor baby!
Lesson learnt: Don't sell a car you become really attached to in the same area as you live... seeing a car you loved like this can be heart breaking!
