Unless someone has a 2006 8L I don't think so.............:yahoo:

The rates shown only apply to cars that have been type approved in category M1 and registered on the basis of CO2 emissions measured in grams per kilometre (g/km) driven. These details are shown on the Registration Certificate.
Petrol car (TC48) and diesel car (TC49)

Over 225 – for cars registered on or after 23/03/06
12Mnths £400.00
6 mnths £220.00

What's a real pain in the **** is that next year I'll be paying more in tax for my 180 TQS than you in your 225 S3!! According to the powers, mine kicks out more CO2 than yours. Hey Gord, I'm pulling down my pants again for yet another kick up the ****! :haudrauf:

so what band is my 210 S3? I thought it was the lower one "band F" as it puts out 223g/km

Sure there was a post on this a few weeks back, do a quick search i'm sure it will tell you the full details

march next year a late ie post jan 03 plate will be £415 a year, pre jan 03 will be £300. Pre 2001 will be £220 odd.

Interestingly, as an when a 4.6 litre Mustang turns up on my driveway, its the standard low tax bracket.

SVA cars arent emission tested. Muahahahaha.

I was a bit ****** off when i viewed my S3 as the chap assured me it was a 225, but when i turned up.... Nope it wasn't... but it was in such good condition i didn't want to let it go.

Quite glad I've got a 210 now!! registered late sep 01 so will get away with the cheaper tax!!!

I have a 2002 210 model and i just renewed mine for a year for £210

Rick have you checked yours on the parkers site???

Nilz that link doesnt take me to what you say it does....went to the home sc reen and did a vehicle check....came up with current bands.....

Simch, im sure we concluded that anything from 2002 will be hit by the higher rate..... im here thinking that my 20/02/2002 car will be taxed at £410 as it pushes 226g/km

But doesn't it say for cars registered after March 2006? Anyway I think I'll order 6 months at the end of this month then 12 months when its due for renewal in October.
Am I getting the wrong end of the stick?

Nilz, that still only gives you current info and not what its going to be,ive emailed the dvla today asking what it will be for mine, registered 02/2002

Thats what im doing mate to take advantage of the old regime..... the way we all concluded on the last tax thread was that in 2009 there will be the new bandings and the old two stage structure for vehicles above and below the 1500cc (or whatever it is)....... and anything from march 2001 (i think) is on the new structure.....

if anyone can tell me any different im happy to accept that..... dont want to pay £410 in fairness but almost certain ill have to

Soz dude, missed that bit, to be honest, its all getting confusing now...lol....my understanding is that its only for cars manufactured after 2006 that have the £400 tax banding.

okies from the DVLA

The structure of vehicle tax (vehicle excise duty) will be reformed from 2009, to reward drivers of more fuel efficient cars and encourage them to consider the environmental performance when buying a new car.
More tax bands
New, smaller bands will be introduced from 1 April 2009 (for cars registered after 1 March 2001), so that a small change in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions has a bigger effect on the cost of vehicle tax. These changes include:
reduced rates for cars that emit up to 150g of CO2 per km
increased rates for the most polluting cars
a new top band for cars that emit more than 255g of CO2 per km
Alternative fuel cars will receive a discount of £20 (bands A to I) or £15 (bands J to M) in 2009-10, and £10 (all bands) in 2010-11.
First year rates
There will also be a new rate for the first year of owning a new car from 1 April 2010, with higher rates for the most polluting cars.
For the least polluting new cars, which emit 130g of CO2 per km or less, the first year rate will be zero. For new cars that emit between 131 and 160g of CO2 per km, the first year rate will be the same as the standard rate.

Read the part after 'more tax bands' , this states that cars registered after the 1st March 2001 will be subject to the new rules....... so £300 for 210 cars, £415 for 225's

feck me £415. robbing feckers. I'm getting rid next year back to a diesel.

I`m in the same boat, going to hand my tax in in jan or feb for a refund and then re tax it for 12 months!!! Nothing to stop us doing this yet, and the following year I will be due a change anyway.:salute:

Interesting, my LCR is a 225 BAM engine and is only 211g/Km :)

might be between the changes mate...perhaps you have a hybrid BAM engine lol.... TBH i have no idea why that would be..... your just a lucky fecker

The 4WD pushes emmisions up through the roof. Thats why the LCR is 211g/km and the 225 S3 is 226g/km.

Complete bummer!

I dont know how they can get away with this retrospective tax increase. When you bought your car nobody thought they would be paying £430 in road tax. I will not be voting labour again, put it that way.

My A3 1.8T March 2000 will stay the same for two years yet...then only a 10 pound hike...

Game on!

I might register my car at my Holiday home in BG, No Speeding/Parking tickets and cheap tax!

Kef, both are 4wd.......whats LCR

Both 210 and 225 S3's are 4WD I know but Im talking about a Leon Cupra R (LCR) which is 2WD.

Thats why its emmisions are 211g/km even with 225bhp and the 225bhp S3 with 4WD is 226g/km meaning we get bummed!

:(

And I don't know about anyone else, whilst we are talking depleting funds, but a few more pence on the V-power and it's hello 95 Ron again...

never gonna go back i dont think, they should move together, when 95 goes up then vpower should in theory..... and vpower gives me better economy to offset the cost and better performance
