Interior Light facelift/pre-facelift

hi guys just wondered if this would work changing the one in my 98 a3 wich is this

to the facelift version like this

is it just a matter of cutting the headlinning???

Only problem I can see is its going to look gash as I think the old one is wider, so you will need to do something about the gap.

They look completely different. Wouldnt you need a new head lining to make the facelift fit?? I wouldnt honestly waste your time as its on the roof and most people wont notice. lol
