coolent leek

hi my a3 1.6 1998 is currently loosing coolant after putting it on the ramp at my friends garage the coolant is coming from the gear box side of the engine and not the water pump side which i thought would be leaking but its not

any ideas what it could be ?

loosing from max to min marker every week

maybe coolant pipes? did you check your coolant expansion bottle and look for any trace of oil?

yer there is no trace of oil in the coolant bottle and no sign of leaking and just wanting any other ideas before i get it pressure tested in a few weeks which is the earliest i can get it in

There is quite a large water pipe running from under exhaust manifold round to above gearbox which goes into a plastic pipe that houses the temp sensor both can split this also has two other pipes connecting to it also has an o ring seal to the engine, well worth a check.

yer was looking at that today actualy will have to give it a better look into in the morning but i know where you mean and that will be a very good place to start
