A6 2.4 V6. What looks like a crankcase breather pipe, that runs from the back of the engine over the top of the rocker covers to the front of the engine. This has gone brittle and fallen to bits. I understand this is a fairly common problem. Is this a dealer only part or can I get one elsewhere? Any part number?
Many thanks.

Post up a picture if you can so we can see exactly the pipe you mean. I replaced the "Blow off" piping around the engine bay and it only cost £14 per meter from the main dealer. I've a 2.4 V6 too btw.

if you are asking about the black pipe which runs from the block via the throttle body at the rear and to both cam covers, that is of square section as it passes the coil pack, then yes it is a dealer part.

or look here:
http://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng.html - for breather hose repair in the a6 section.

if you are talking about the small diameter round vacuum hose then you can get that anywhere.
