S3 boot creaks when opening

Hello All,

Recently my boot lid creaks quite loudly when you first open it. THis doenst happen if you then shut it again and reopen it. The noise is like a rubbery loud creak as if the boot lid needs adjusting. Has anyone come across this before?

Could be A: Haunted, or B: needs a squirt of lubricant on the hinges at the top (on the roof).

Mine has started doing the exact same thing. A squirt of grease/lube will cure it when i get round to it.

Mine does this as well - its the hydraulic things that push the lid up. Sorry I can't remember what they are called. Lifters??

Anyway, open the boot, get some oil (I use 3 in 1) and a rag/kitchen role, slightly dampen the rag/towell with oil then apply to the shiny bit of the lifter. Open and close the boot a few times.

Rinse and repeat about once a month.

I did the greasing of the lifters and indeed the creak is no more.

Dont mean to alarm in any way..... my mates A3 was perfect originally, then it had a big back end smash, and it's creaked on opening ever since!
