Hi,

I've been looking at allroad and found one (2001 2.5 TDi) very competitively priced but with that comes the downside of high mileage (160K)

It has a full service history with cambelts changed on time etc.

I've read a few postings about engines failing, hydraulics, fuel pumps, etc, and not having had an audi or a diesel before, a bit of a novice. Also earlier considered an A4 2.5 TDi avant quattro and had a bit of advice there from various members.

Is this worth considering or is it too risky?

I have been looking at these cars too

tempting as the price is low but I have read the same posts and also the potential cost of the air suspension leaks and failures have put me off

the 2.5 tdi engine seems a bit of a lottery with 3 different versions - so I guess the cheaper ones around the £5k mark could have some real issues - there is quite a price range out there

same for any audi really - make sure you get a proper audi specialist inspection

The 2.5TDi would I imagine be an AKE engine? They can be problematic, but as long as the timing belt is done every 60k (personal recommendation) then it should be ok. The fuel pump might go wrong and might cost you £1k - but if the price is right and history complete then 160k wouldn't put me off. My A4 is an 03 and over 130k now so not too far away.

What sort of mileage do you do? Would you see it climb rapidly?

I don't know anything else about Allroad's so can't help you with that sorry.

Thanks for the replies... appreciated!

I expect to do about 10-12K per year, not more and I really want a car that will handle long (12-14 hr) trips easily...
