2001 51 A4 TDI SPORT MISSING WHEN IT RAINS

Hi Guys

Hi, ive got an audi a4 2001 a4 1.9tdi 130 awx engine code that normally is fine, but in heavy rain now, it loses power and stalls on me. The first time it happened, I assumed/was told it was the air flow mass meter and had it changed the next day, however today my car in heavy rain upon start up displayed the same symptoms as last time where by it will stall out unless you totally floor it in first and second and its almost like there is a huge delay in any power getting to the engine...then the rev counter shoots up as the power gets there. At this time the exhaust throws out puffs of black smoke meaning rich mixture. but when the sun is shining or dry weather the car runs and drives perfect it only occurs when raining.

Hello,
Try putting some dialectic grease in the MAF electrical connection(multi-plug), this may cure it?

whats dialectic grease? where can i get it from? stick it on the connecter that plugs into the MAF? sorry to sound stupid!!!

Hi,
Sorry about the spelling its actually 'Dielectric Grease'. Its an anti-corrosion grease which prevents arcing and voltage leaks. You apply it to the electrical contacts. Here is a link to some on E-Bay.
