Swopping a manual to an auto gearbox?!?

Just fishing at moment for a wacky idea i had!

How difficult would this be if at all possible? I have a 2003 Allroad 2.5 Tdi with a manual box but would have preferred an auto for towing a caravan. If i sourced an auto box what else would i need and how would this affect the car's electronics? Has anyone had any experience in doing a conversion either way, manual > auto > manual? How much would you anticipate this would cost? Does anyone know where there is an auto box for sale?

Man, you would love to have a manual instead an auto gearbox as you can feel the load. Ussusaly folk do the other way round wich means that the auto box its on its way out and they wanna fit an manual gearbox. Sell yours and get the auto you crave as its too much work to swap from one to other...
