ESP & ABS light always on help ?

My steering wheel has always been making this noise & recently got worse. Fed up with it i decided to remove the steering wheel which was easy enough & also disconnected the airbag & horn. On the face of the column there is a plastic mounting plate that the steering wheel sits on it has 2 mouting stalks, i couldnt remove this but behind that there was a lose plastic ring (when i say plastic its like selotape) which i managed to pull out with tweezers (noise has now gone which i m happy about). Put eveything back together & ESP light remains on always, i have dissconnected the battery for a few hours which has made no difference. Cany anyone help ?

sounds to me like you've broken the clock spring.....

The clock spring sits under the steering wheel, and allows the Horn, airbags, and ESP to work. It could be possible that you've somehow broken it in part....

the horn is working fine wouldnt know about the air bag
