brake lights ????

should my brake lights still work when i put my foot on the brake and my key is out of the ignition

Yea they should still come on if the keys are not in the ignition, actually tested this over the weekend, as I had a bulb out.

On the A4 and A3 the BRAKE lights did work without the keys, i assumed it was a German thing

thank god for that just need to sort out the radio vol knob now and the dry joints on the left side back lights also its a a3 1.8t sport thanks guys for your help

No worries, your volume knob issue is a known one, its something to do with the internal memory on the stereo, isnt really a fix for it, best bet is to get a replacement stereo.
