Looking for a clue
Sometimes when i stop my car the revs are a little high (1000rpm) instead of normal(750-800rpm)

I had the DPF light come on for the first time this week (after 8weeks) and it went away with a motorway run.

Does the car rev up slightly at low sppeds to try to burn off some soot itself? I had been doing alot of slow stop start driving. Could it be the engine reving to compensate for the load taken from the cooling fan?

If someone else knows of this then i'm fine, just worried its a sign of a more expensive repair looming.

Clues welcome:detective2:

Its normal mate. If the DPF light doesn't go off thats when you are in trouble!

So you have a 170 tdi, does the high revving happen to you and you reckon it's due to the DPF?

I've had it happen 3 or 4 times. Only ever had the DPF light come on once though.

Its only done the high revving thing after doing lots of crawling through town. As soon as it gets a blast out its all back to normal again.

Thanks

As long as its happening to someone else im happy that its normal

Cheers
