hi all

im using my tdi a bit more for commuting, 23 miles of nice B roads but want a little bit more oomph for overtaking, found a company that will chip it fairly cheap if i post them my ecu (im quite happy with a generic map, thats what i did with my last and current 1.8t)

anyway with it being a high mileage car and not wanting to take it off the road i thought id have a look on ebay an see if i can find a cheap second ecu so i could swap them and remove it if theres ever any problem

i cant match the number exactly but found a few with a different end letter so was wondering what the difference is or what id need to match to be sure it would work? for example would an engine ecu from a 99 a6 quattro automatic work in an 99 a4 fwd manual if they have the same engine? or would it need to be an exact match

or can anyone cross reference 8d0907401h and tell me what ecu would be a suitable alternative?

thanks for any advice or help

kev

found this list, why would there be so many ecu's for an engine used for less than 2 years

That is alot of part numbers for 1 ecu.
would it have any thing to do with other bits that talks to the ECU or the ECU talks to?
Some would be updates over the older version of ECU?

As axios says, some of it will be revisions of the same part, some will be differences such as auto/manual etc.

Whats your current ECU? I'll see if there are other matching numbers.

You'll find some will work and some wont.

thank you
from that my 8D0 907 401 'H' can be replaced with 'A' or 'E' then

With yours being the "H" prefix it usually means its been superseeded from the A,B,C etc so anything before might not work and operate everything in your car.
