Pollen filter cover

Is it normal that the exterior cover forms a seal against the filter?
I keep smelling fumes and this is a

poor seal.
I must be missing something for the pollen filter.

Poor choice of pollen filter...

Just an ordinary pollen filter , but not 'the one' that the gubberment from a diesel point of view doesn't tell you about because it wants you to buy petrol to raise revenue through less mpg and higher CO2 based VED or purchasing an EV.

You might aswell fold up with pleats a paper kitchen towel .

Anyway can someone sober offer an opinion please.

Fitted correctly, it's usually ok, just a bit fiddly as I recall it has locating lugs at the back then push down at the front to keep it dry & on place, never had an issue with our old S4.
