Turbo actuator rod rattles

Been reading about actuator rod rattles and a few of the you tube clips resemble the noise/rattle coming from mine when decelerating.

Found clips showing the installation of a metal clip which then stops the rattle.

Has anyone tried this? Maybe it's just for VW's although same engine.

Search 2.0TFSI Wastegate Actuator Rod Rattle Fix.

Any comments please?

Hi KevinF. I have just bought a Black edition from a main dealer and this also had the rattle from startup and when blipping the throttle. They tried to cure it with a clip on the actuator rod but it still remained. They came to the conclusion that the flap on the turbo body was causing the rattle..After trying to claim from Audi uk which failed:sorry: They changed the turbo as a goodwill gesture. Now there is no rattle:icon_thumright: Hope this helps..

My 2.0TFSI rattles from all ends anyway. It's like a tin of nails.

Thanks for replying pberv. So it was an Audi dealer who tried the clip?
Any idea of what that would have cost from them?

From what I gather the clip itself is nothing complicated and the fitting should not take longer than half an hour.My guess is your dealer will try and bill you 1 hour labour and as for the part I,m not sure..All the work that was done on my car was covered by warranty..
