Had bit of trouble starting the car couple of times recently, but today it wouldn't turn other at all, luckily I was near home!

Any recommendations on where to buy a replacement or get mine refurbished ? I'm in Leeds BTW.

i believe the starter motor to be beneath the air box? It looks like 3 bolts holding it in place, is this an easy task to complete ? Its gotta be done where the car is as it won't start to take it to a garage, and won't even bump off.

Straight forward to remove and replacement... Euro car parts? Avoid RX starter motors - dont know if they still stock them.

if youre changing the starter motor get a bosch exchange from dingbro or the like best way to cut cost gaurentee quality

I removed the starter motor today... Jacked car and put on axle stands, took the wire off the battery, removed the air box, unplugged the..solenoid? Screwed the bolt off to remove the power cables and one to remove the housing underneath... 2 large nuts held it in place, removed the bottom and then the top and it came off easy, easy job with the right tools and abit of knowledge.

Needto source a new motor now or get mine refurb now, u say dingbro p5snd?

Could be the battery mate.

All the central locking, stereo and electrics working, battery been tested also and no problems.

Im 95% sure it's the starter motor, it just clicks when you turn the key,

sounds like solenoid to me. just change that. might save some money. worked with me on my Peugeot.

I know this thread is old now, but could possibly come in use in to anyone in the yorkshire region. Basically everyone i contacted wanted around 150 quid for a refurb motor of some for of cruddy make and also for me to give them my old bosch unit. Ended up removing the motor(10min job) and tool it to a workshop called autogenerators just outside wakefield city centre. Picked up my fully refurbished boschmotor around 3 hours later, 90quid for the service, bargain. Turns out when my dual mass flywheel broke down it took the motor with it! All in all an easy DIY job though, saved a fortune in garage bills.
