Facelift UK RS3 Saloon/SB (400ps) Order Thread...

When my S3 got stolen last year LV paid out fully within 4 days

It’s something you never want to happen... but a 4 day turn around, you can’t argue with that mate... top service

I'm using LV, they had the best price plus they were amazing with a travel insurance claim I had, so they get my business.

LOL I do send a few emails but its not like he gets 5 a day. More like 1 a day... and he replies when he can.

And I would rather phone him but I’m sure everyone here knows how difficult it is to get a dealer on the phone; they are either not at their desk or with customers.

If it arrived the week after next I would wait for an 18 plate as its literally a week but the car is already registered and as of Thursday it will be 7 days so won’t be able to unregister it so would defeat the purpose!

How is it already registered when it’s off site? Is it at their PDI centre? Otherwise it’s impossible they don’t have the car haha. They can allow you to pick a reg, but it’s not registered.

Just went on LV’s site for a quote and it’s over £500 more than the most competitive ones... their service sounds great but they’re just a bit too much haha

Just go on compare the market. I appreciate not all insurers will be on there, but you'll get some of the cheapest prices about and saves a lot of hassle. I've been with Esure for three years now. I have no allegiances with them but they've consistently been the best, even when swapping mid term. Just swapped ny RS3 to TT-RS and the TT is cheaper than the RS3 to insure!

+1 mate, I just had some spare time so thought I’d give the site sponsors a go... Prestige just got back to me saying if I have a tracker installed they can insure it for just over £2400 haha why not just say they don’t want the business instead of giving out daft prices

I’ve had a few performance cars and a couple of them heavily modified and all have been a good bit cheaper than the RS3... I had a Nissan GTR that was stage 1 with other bits and pieces done and that was almost half the price to insure than the RS3... around £800 is what I’ve found on the compare sites and going off other peoples quotes in previous thread it doesn’t seem bad for my age really

I had a registration number and they sent me a form to sign today for registration. Maybe they picked one and reserved it and will register it with that when it arrives.

I can confirm Audi CS has me at Status 60 now and told me that the car left port at around 1pm today. The dealer says they expect it tomorrow. And as long as it arrives early enough they will get it ready for me to collect tomorrow but if not Friday. I don’t want to wait until Friday but if it arrives at this time tomorrow I understand!

I always wondered how safe it is for these transport lorry’s that are parked up overnight at services - it would seem my car is going to be like that tonight.

You could try and get the mobile number of the lorry driving and make sure he stops up all night watching it to make sure it’s safe :tongueclosed:

I'm 27 and the RS3 is by far one of the most expensive cars I've ever been quoted for. I paid £450 for the Focus RS and the RS3 is coming up around £1000.

I was paying £350 originally. Then when I renewed in December it shot up to nearly double that. Whether lots of RS3's are being stolen or crashed I'm not sure, but insurers do seem to have upped prices on it. I seem to recall @Leo-RS saying something like it was the most expensive car he insures, and he's also got an RS6.

Assuming my car is ready tomorrow I need to do Gap insurance and my normal insurance tomorrow as well, so will be an expensive day.

I also have a BlackVue dashcam in my S3 so I will need to disconnect that - I can’t afford a reinstall so I am going to have to get some more sticky pads and some new power cables so I can use it while I am waiting to get paid again! Lol

Also need to remove my red RS3 vents from my S3.

Anyone know how to remove puddle lights? I want to remove the audi ring lights and move them onto the rear doors of the RS3.

I used to have a multicar policy with Aviva which I didn't think was too bad. I have now changed to NFU, they get good reviews, is very comprehensive insurance and you can speak to them!
Might be worth a try?

When I was getting quotes for my rs the other day ready for my renewal next week one company would not insure the car. When I asked why he was saying that basically the hot hatch so to speak is becoming more and more quicker and powerful then before and they are now considered high risk.
Even the cost of them has some companies sweating on payout should the worst happen.
They seem to be getting a lot of notice with these insurance places but not all of it positive.

So far my cheapest quote is with CK £350 compulsory
Exhaust mods declared
In my thirty’s
**** postcode which is a massive influence on insurance as I use to live 5 miles up the road and my policy’s were half of what I pay now
£1055.

Keep checking Dan - I was hitting the renew quote button for a month and it changed every day. Cheapest quote started at about £1,100 and ended up at £630 - and that was the same company being pretty much the cheapest each time.

I do mate on all the mainstream comparison sites, cheapest quote £1500. No change. I had to phone up individual companies that accept modified vehicles as I am declaring my exhaust mods.

If I don’t declare the mods £745

What exhaust mod... Please tell me it's not just to control the valves? If so, that is not worth doubling your insurance!!!

Secondary decats mate

That was a bolt out the blue DOC with you now owning a TTRS mate.
Sounds like a great upgrade mate.

Seriously mate, secondary decat is good but not worth an extra £750 on your insurance!

Thanks, so far so good. Does stand out...a bit too much!

Nice one Doc - a total animal! I think the sound will grow on you over time - after it all loosens up (and a bit of coke is applied) it will be properly antisocial. Your neighbours are probably prematurely celebrating the departure of the 3 without knowing what is coming down the road.

It's certainly loud. I had the windows down when driving down a narrow street yesterday and it was making a hell of a noise. But windows up, it doesn't seem to filter as much noise is. Whether it's because it's got less bass to it than the old engine, I'm guessing!

Yep my insurance would double with this mod using a mainstream comparison sites.

Went the other route to do called specialists and went up by £200, no brainer really

Like to have all avenues covered especially in this day and age of car insurance.

So got the car. Wow the sound. Every time I break it sounds like someone trying to assassinate the president of the united states.

The colour and contrast too is fantastic with ara blue and Matt aluminium.

I wasn’t sure what to do with the alloys if I’m honest. Considered changing them before it was too late to alter the order. I think the red break calliper helps.

The noise! Honestly if this is quiet then everyone with a PFL must be slightly deaf!

I don’t want diamond cut alloys. I’d rather get the alloys painted black or grey by a specialist in the same places as the optional alloys because then it’s easier to repair.

The SS seats are going to take some getting used to with the positioning.

Could you go nearly new, ie delivery mileage, and get it within budget? The reason I ask is that there seems to be some great deals out there and with it being February, you'll likely get an even better deal.

Well I had a look at some now. Pretty much nothing good on the Audi Used Car section. Found some on Autotrader though. Going to ask what the APR% is but they're all compromises.

This one is £42,740 for an Ara blue RS3 Saloon with black pack, red brakes, privacy glass, matrix headlights, sports exhaust and 1,800 miles. For me its missing B&O mainly and was hoping to get super sport seats + pan roof - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201801172841140?

This is £44k for Panther Black RS3 Saloon, similar options but with B&O and Folding mirrors. Also 4,500 miles. - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201710110183450?

This is £46k for Ara blue RS3 Saloon with £11k of options. 940 miles too - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201712122006733?

The one with everything I'm looking for is £48k with 7k miles, at that price I'd rather just get a new one which is similar price after discount - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201802083530728?

You can’t keep us all in suspense like that!! Is the exhaust cracking and banging on the downshift?
What about the running in period? Has that been broken yet...surely the thought must have crossed your mind!
Delighted to see you’ve finally got it mate. Enjoy!

The noise is fantastic when in dynamic or as I have set it up individual. It sounds like a super car; I have no doubt that the fact the 5 cylinder engine sounds very close to a V10 in characteristics is why to me it sounds incredible. I have left it in Auto mostly; had a couple of plays in manual to try and get the gear shift lights to appear but I am not pushing it to the limit. What I love most is the random crackles and bangs that seem to happen when I break and go down a gear.

Even when I am almost at a stop it will suddenly bang. It is very very addictive. The double bang on startup is also fantastic and scares anyone walking near the car! lol.

In comfort mode it isn't any louder than my S3... which is probably a good thing as I can't always drive with that noise as its not good for economy.

I have driven about 60 miles from the dealer back to home. I am finding the SS seats a bit hard to get comfortable in but I am sure I will find the optimal position with time.

The colour looks amazing (although @AudiNutta I love his colour more) - I think the matt aluminium finish looks so much better that the black pack because you see more detail of the bodywork with the contrast. Although as I said I wouldn't be against wrapping the area surrounding the doors black and I think the rear spoiler REALLY needs to be in black.

Bear in mind those prices will be negotiable. I wouldn't be surprised if you got £2-4k off some of those. Good luck with it!

The sound of this car is addictive.

But it also surprises me how quiet it is when in comfort mode. Again I’m going off one night so far but I’d even say it sounds quieter than my S3 in comfort.

It’s about tone, that’s where the huge change is.

Had a reply from some of them. The £46k ara blue one said they offer finance from 3.99% APR but he only gave me a Hire Purchase quote for some reason of £1285.94 per month over 36 months with a £5k deposit. Cardiff Audi say they got a special deal of 6.9% APR which is 'much lower than usual', rather get a new one with less APR then, especially since that RS3 already has 4,500 miles on it.

Yes, Audi’s best used car finance rate on a PCP is 6.9% and only applies to some cars at promotion times. The usual is 10.9% but you can usually get that down to 9.9% or slightly lower. 6.9% is good considering the new car is 6.2%

The 3.99% won’t apply to PCP, it’s pretty much a bank loan against the car, you may do slightly better with mainstream banks at 3% if you have a good credit file. If you’re going down this path of buying outright with cash, it’s best to find a private sale rather than a dealer and cut the middle man out. The cars are brand new pretty much and covered by Audi’s warranty.

I doubt there’s much chance for discount on those prices, maybe £1k on the higher priced cars, can’t see a lot being taken off the cheaper cars.
