What have you done to your 8V today?

Got it lowered on Eibach Pros and put the summer wheels on - it just transformed the look of the car!

Looks good , waiting a few more weeks to put my summers on.

Really want to do this ..... may I ask the costs involved and who did the work ?

(Just realised your in Denmark lol)

I'm from Denmark so don't think you can use the price for anything ;) But I ended up spending 3700DKK (£420) with an alignment included when the sprigs have settled. This is a really fair price here in Denmark where you easily get charged £80/hour at your local mechanic.

Well done @Lehn ! It's amazing how a few mm drop can transform the look of a car.
I'm going to do this same mod asap. I collected my new car the day before yesterday and headed to the tinting shop the very next morning. I forgot to look under the hood and check out the axle load. Otherwise I would order the Pros already. Will do it tomorrow when I get my car back.

What was your first impression regarding the ride quality, both handling and comfort? I noticed that my 8V with oem sport suspension and 18" wheels is harsher on the bad pavement and at the same time has more body roll than my 8P on the Eibach Pro. Will change it soon.

Dropped her off at Tyneside Audi for cambelt and water pump.

Got a3 saloon 1.5cod as a hire car

First impression of the ride quality is MUCH better! And mind you, this is without recalibration of the magride. The bouncyness is gone over bumps and the car is just more planted. I'd say the comfort is 80% and handling is 120% compared to before but I expect this på be 90%/130% after recalibration. (This impression is with stock 18" winter wheels).

Body roll is less pronounced where you before would feel the car being "pushed" away from the suspension (this is a magride thing), this is much less pronounced now and I was surprised to see how fast I could take some turns today on my way to work. Mind you this is with 19" summer wheels which I changed to yesterday but still the difference was noticeable.

That’s one tidy looking commercial vehicle you have there @Lehn :thumbs up: Pro kit is looking nice and subtle - very classy. Are you on mag ride? Any spacers used?

Thanks mate! And I'm happy to hear that you think it looks classy because that is exactly the look I'm after :) Yep I'm on magride with 8mm spacer on the rear. Fitted with 8.5x19 ET45 235/35 all around.

Nice - previously owned by a certain @MattSedg by any chance? Good to see it go to a good home if so! Look forward to seeing it on your car.

Good choices all around, useful to know the details. You’ve got this just right IMO - not too aggressive in any respect. OEM+ is definitely the look to go for. I’m liking what you’ve done mate :thumbs up:

It sure is the exact same splitter! ;) Funny how @MattSedg apologised for the washing scratches because he didn't knew I would just get it painted :hi: Great bloke to deal with.

For the interested, this is how the rear looks now with Pro-Kit and 8mm spacer, I think the squat is just perfect without being too much! :hubbahubba:

The rear look great! Could you take more pictures of both front and rear wheels from changing angles the way you did before (I love those pictures, btw), but now lowered with the Pro-kit?

On the splitter thing, are you going to fit the side skirt extensions too?

Lol - I did wonder. I'm now cursing myself for not having the foresight to take this of @MattSedg 's hands when I had the opportunity - and I didn't even think about having it re-painted. I came v.close to snapping it up when he was selling it as the Method Effects splitter is a really great (and rare option in the UK due to import taxes from the US) but I couldn't quite justify it at the time (the shagging central heating broke down that month, so my cash went to the plumber instead!). It will look great on Daytona I'm sure :sunglasses:. I'll look forward to cursing the photos when you post them. Lol.

Yep, this works. I don't think the fronts needs spacers (on 19"s at least), but the rears do need the slightest bit of pushing out (as you've done). You've spent a bit of time doing some research on this before taking the plunge haven't you mate? Well it has paid off. Did you go for H&R hub-centric spacers? They seem to be the logical choice.

I need to get my head around how wheel dimensions factor into the 'stance' once lowered. My wheels (pic below, with gratuitous B3 RS4 Avant in the background, not mine unfortunately!) are 8x19 ET49 (235/35 all around), whereas yours are 8.5x19 ET45 (235/35 all around). This guide explains (in words that make my head hurt, lol).

I think this means that I have a higher offset (ET 45(you) vs 49(me)), which means mine stick-out 4mm more from the wheel hub than yours do(?). BUT, your wheels are wider than mine by 0.5 inch, but we seem to be running the same tyre dimensions, so thinking ET/offset is a more important consideration when alloy width is a small difference (e.g. 8.5 (you) vs 8(me). In my head this means I'd be better off with 5mm rear spacers (on the rear only) to achieve a similar result to you(?).

I did go down the route of ordering some Eibach Sportlines (the red ones - more aggressive/lower than you've gone for) last year, but then aborted and sent them back as I hadn't got my head around the full package of springs, wheel dimensions and what this meant for the need for spacers (and had a nagging doubt that the Pro Kit might be the better option for me, which you might have just proved).

Any advice/tips you can give @Lehn would be gratefully received! Apologies for all the questions, but this is a minefield and easy to get wrong if not fully thought through!

Your car is looking MEGA - and my only consolation at the moment is mine has rear seats, lol.

Got my car back from the tinting shop yesterday. I decided on the top option available at the moment - SunTek Carbon XP Tinting, 70% on the front door windows and 45% on the rest. I also got the windshield protection film, though I'm unsure I should choose this expense because, as the tinter said, it would unlikely hold more than 2 years and it will get scratches, etc. and should be replaced with a new one again. All that was said when I came to collect the car, or I wouldn't buy it if I new it before.

A few pictures of the 70/45 tinting result - both on the outside and inside a parking. Personally, I like how it looks in the dark more ;)

Please note: this is my very first mod done to this car, next day after the collection day :)

I clean my tdi ones onece every 6 month. Seem to be alright although are past the point of repair but still come up shiny with autosol. I want new ones but can’t justify the money for some crome tips

Fitted my black high gloss Method Effects splitter :rockwoot: It really transforms the car together with the high gloss RS3 grill.

(I only have these quick snapshots but I'll promise you'll see a lot more images of the S3 when the weather gets better and I can snap some pictures with my DSLR)

Completely forgot to reply to your questions here mate!

But, you got it a little wrong. The thing with offset/ET is that it works the other way around, the higher the number the closer to the suspension.

ET45 will be 4mm closer to the arch than ET49. With a 8x19" setup you can easily get away with ET40.

So to get the same setup as me on the rear with your setup (8x19" ET49) you need a 18mm spacer (and here you have a choice of 15mm or 20mm as standard spacer sizes - you could get away with 20mm because your rim is narrower and thus won't stretch the tyre as much as mine)
ET49-ET45 = 4mm
8.5"-8" = 12,5mm (then you take half of it because the 12,5 is calculated from center of the rim to both sides), so = 6mm
And then you add my 8mm spacer which gives you 4+6+8mm = 18mm

Please ask if you have any questions! :D

Did you definitely move the mirror when in reverse? Should work but heard it can be buggy for some.

I put the mirror switch onto passenger side then selected reverse. Nothing happened. I’ll try unchecking the options then re selecting them might work

Does it auto dip or do I have to dip it my self then it’ll auto return ?

Put it in reverse - Move mirror dial to passenger - Adjust mirror to where you wish for it to dip to. Turning off the engine / driving off will automatically move the mirror back to its normal position. Putting the car in reverse with the dial on the passenger side will auto dip the mirror to where you adjusted it.

Got it working.

I will have to do what you said to adjust it to where I want it to go too but it is now auto dipping.

Wasn’t working because I had 2 options selected. Remember position when lowering passenger side mirror 1 and 2

So it doesn’t go back exactly where it was but I’d rather adjust it manually after reversing against a kurb

Will adjust where I want it to adjust to when am against a kurb as I’ll be to gauge it better

Thanks

The roads are long and winding and all mostly national speed limit. good fun.
