Maybe a bit, but I think that you tend to lose some amount of credibility for that kind of email if your spelling and grammar is terrible so I'd say it's a fair point. Sort the spelling and grammar and then send it along so you can get the generic 'we're sorry but it's out of our control' response (even though brands like BMW and Porsche appear to be able to get cars out...).

I’m not going to pile in as well to criticise the email as such, but over the years I’ve come to learn that a calm and respectful approach when raising a grievance with a person/company is always likely to end up with a more favourable outcome. Any email also written in haste (or text etc) should also not be sent straight away after typing…….walk away, breath and then re-read. 9 times out of 10 you will end up changing something!

I’m in the same mindset as the email I guess but honestly given the updates/responses I’ve had from the dealership so far I’m just sort of like what’s the point?

I’ve been offered a CLA45s shooting brake and an A45s but haven’t taken either so I’m thinking I must really want the RS 3 and have just kind of accepted I’m in for a long wait.

Don’t get me wrong, when we get a sunny day or I’m driving somewhere on a decent road, I do get super annoyed about the Audi situation but getting wound up isn’t going to get me a build week any quicker. Don’t disagree with the sentiment of the email at all, just dubious on how much insight the dealerships actually have. 100% doesn’t excuse the scalping though, that should for sure be sorted out.

Not gna lie but u guys in this forum crack me up. Either that you are all sat way up their on high horses. Because out off all the responses i got back only 2 maybe 3 bothered to comment on actuall content off the email. Sorry lads my chubby fingers aint good enough to write out an email properly spelled and grammer checked for a company that doesnt give 2 fuks about their customers. Why should i care then if a few words are mis spelt.

Well.... If you don't care, what makes you think Lyndsay / Audi would care????
Makes the whole thing pointless by your own admission there and attitude doesn't it.

As said by the replies above, spend a bit of time and attention before hitting send maybe you get a reply instead of delete..... but what would I know from up here.... oh, why is my horse wooden with rockers???

As much as everyone likes to have perfect spelling and to be grammatically correct when communicating it is not always the case.
Maybe others should take the time to read between the lines of a reply or similar and at what the member is saying before making statements about their spelling and grammar, ok it may not be up to everyone's expectations but hey ,don't slate the guy for it.
I must say that putting spelling and grammar to one side, @K44WMY is better behaved than a lot of you RS3 8Y lot.

Just think it’ll be taken more seriously provided the spelling and grammar is good is all. If that will help you get some sort of outcome I imagine it’s worth it and will give you a reason to read back through it to make sure you think it’s saying what you want and appropriate. Just trying to help.

OK I'm prepared to comment on the content of your email ;) As negative as it may sound....

Your correct, Lyndsey has no control over the situation, private dealers are taking delivery of 3/4 cars a week - who knows when they ordered, and I bet they are further down the line than their second order.... Your relatives have recieved cars from another brand, thats not really relavant to the struggles VAG have and something Lyndsey wouldn't know anything about either. What is going on with Audi - I'm sure you know more than they do... You assume harnesses for BMW come from Ukraine and again I'm sure Lyndsey can't explain how BMW have such a quick turn around. Dealerships are selling cars at a premium, wow who'd have thought these franchises only existed to make money? Regarding buying a new car being a pleasant experience did you not check the press before ordering? The struggles VAG have been published extensively... and you upcoming situation and future business... These manufacturers are making more money than they ever have and have customers queueing up, not really sure they'll give 2 *****!!! What you going to do, cancel the order so they can sell it at a premium?

I ordered in March and was advised 12-15 months for delivery, when I originaly enquired in Aug with Audi I was advised 12 months..... VW were advising 12-14 on a Golf R or Tiguan R.

The only issue I see is your dealer never advised you that delivery could be end of 2022 - early 2023, if they had would you have ordered?????

As it has been noted and mentioned on numerous occasions, there is a small minority of members in this specific RS forum that seem to think they are something special and look down on others, and can pretty well get away with anything, think again chaps.
Just because other moderators may let it go because you have unlimited powers of something, I won't so just cut some guys a bit of slack sometimes.

Of course you found my post (that you quoted) to be offensive, I mean
1. I did point out by his own admission why the email was poor and then
2. I said in the subsequent posts how others have suggested how it could have been better.

Soooooo offensive!

Yes, let's go there then.

Guys i emailed a car dealer about a car i ORDERED BACK IN NOVEMBER AND WAS ADVISED DELIVERY WOULD BE END OF MARCH. And back then their was NO documentation of audis struggles to get new cars to customers. And even then i asked as a whole customer basis ie ppl on this forum are waiting since august for cars yet audi are churning out cars to private dealers or are selling on AT themselves. I asked for an explanation for this also, taking into consideration alot of CONDENSATING ppl on this forum but ppl are still bothered about my spelling? Its not exactly an official email were my spelling or grammer needs to be on point. So plz before judging check if uze are all perfect also, instead of replying to the material information of my post.

Just to remind everyone, ASN is for all Audi Enthusiasts, not just the RS3 8Y section.
It is not an exclusive club that only the lucky few can be members of, so don't treat it that way.

Fair enough if they told you it was supposed to be here by March, but there were definitely well documented issues long before you ordered. I ordered in September and the broker told me it would likely be 12 months due to chip shortages. Same when I contacted my local dealer in October. I’m not sure how your dealer seems to be the only one that didn’t know about it, or wasn’t told to manage your expectations for delivery like the rest. Not great for you buying the car…

Mate i am trying to point out to them how are other manufacturers churning cars out quicker than they are. For such a big company do they not have backup suppliers? More like for the ppl that are waiting for soo long the dealers did probably receive the car but instead of doing a pdi and notifying custoner, they sold on for profit and reordered customers cars. That is what is ******* off pol on this forum.
All other car manufacturers use microchips so as somebody has said in this forum previously, that is now an old bs generic excuse. But for me asking the dealer that question it becomes a problem?
Ppl on here make me laugh.

We test drove Oldham Audis demo back in late October, was advised then that any order would be at the earliest June delivery, exclusive would be July - September delivery.
This was before the Ukrainian / Russia war broke out though, so understandable car deliveries would not improve as parts come from that region.
Placed an order in November before the price rise, still had no build date in March / April, but decided to go buy a new one at a dealer instead.
There’s nothing you can do to stop what the dealers are doing, they are allowed to pre-reg them and sell them for a 100k if some fools want to overpay that much……
is it right that indie dealers are getting these cars before ‘regular’ Joe public ? IMO no, but what can you do, there are indie dealers willing to overpay, AA paid 69k for a CE to be able to sell it for 73k, madness and they aren’t the only ones……..

In my opinion the 8Y is a 55k car at best in the current market.

You’ll get zero traction venting at Audi, may make you feel better, but the dealers will carry on doing what they do, is it right and fair ? No
Salesperson is only interested in getting a signature, whether you get the car next week or next year they won’t be bothered about.

I don’t really know what you want forum members to say…. 75% are in the same boat, but replying with swear words etc in ranting replies will only turn people off commenting, it’s not ASN’s fault Audi can’t deliver a product.

So no other forum member had emailed audi about their frustrations or concerns? Maybe if you go thru the 55 pages you will find that they probably have. And the swearing posts wudnt be hear if the ASN members (not all ) actually read my op and replied to it rather than judging like the moderator said. Now that he has stepped in everybodys tone has changed. Next time i send a msg to audi dealer ir audi uk. I shall speak and ask questions fir myself only and not the audi community as a whole.
Anyways i got a nice reply back which i shall now keep to myself as no1 else was bothered about the actual content of the email..
Ps the reply was positive . Peace out.
Also buddy bangin job on the spreadsheet. But instead of you doing it maybe some of yhe grammer teachers or english teachers on here should do it.

To be honest I’m not entirely sure why you weren’t notified either through your supplying dealer or via your own research about the struggles to fulfil orders. I ordered in August and was quoted potentially up to a year then!!

Also, BMW are struggling too. As I’ve said time and time again on here, the 128ti and 135i have suffered no end too with some customers waiting up to 9 months and some OVER the 1 year mark.

I have my car now but I emailed Audi UK 3 times and never got a good enough reply imo. The wait is long but I don’t regret waiting on it and I was around 8.5 months.

Let’s not hijack this thread anymore, OP has put a lot of time and effort into the spreadsheets.

Was helping my daughter with her breaking into her house, as the Yale app, decided to crash and locked her out of the house.. so was busy, thats another story.

The spreadsheet was started, to show, all of us were in the same misery hole and to give some glimpse on the randomness on the cars being built for some fortunate members and to give some visibility as to when a particular batch may include our variant.

Do, keep in contact with your Dealer, as couple of members on this forum were lucky enough to land into a cancelled slot.

Yeah to be honest I’ve had to properly stop myself from getting the deposit refunded and getting a new A45s. Only thing stopping me really is I have an A35 already so doesn’t make a ton of sense to pay more for an incremental increase.

Broker is saying it's around the same time as it's been for the last while for me, an unconfirmed BW38 at the moment.

I cancelled my RS3 order some months ago. My dealer (Sheffield/Audi) was extremely vague about build/delivery dates so i just give up. If it makes anyone feel better, I decided to order a Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo with an expected delivery date of Sep 2023 :sos:

Prior to ordering the RS3 I had an order in place for Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0. I was told by the dealer last October that delivery of that vehicle was delayed for 6 months. Ironically that was the straw that broke the camel’s back and I cancelled the order there and then. Will never know if that car would have turned up in March or not :suspicion:

I just keeping paying a deposit and then cancelling the order when it becomes apparent the car will not turn up on time. Perhaps it’s time to save our money. Hope everyone gets some positive news in regards to their orders. Remain patient is my advice…

Yes, need to remain patient, some members have been advised of build weeks, (estimated) for the 2nd half of 2022 and into 2023. Fingers crossed.

Yeah mine is status 10 still so unconfirmed from what I understand but at least it’s something. Time for me to sit tight I think and just wait and see if it goes to status 20 a couple of months out, if it doesn’t that’ll be the point I cancel.
