Facelift S3 video

I am a fan of it generally.

I dislike the new S3 badge on the rear and lack of badge on the front which is a shame.

I will be placing on order on 15th May though. Sportback, now just to decide what colour. Glacier white with black optics + 5 spike wheels winning currently. Although do I go for ascari blue/progressive red or even green.

The Ascari blue looks good (in photos) but I am also quite taken by the 'District Green' (strange name!) on a Black Edition. Looks classy and a bit unusual.

I’ve seen A4 in district green black edition and it looked lovely so should suit the S3 too.
My Audi dealer doesn’t have full pricing yet, however he did say that there would be a considerable increase over pre facelift, wonder how much extra the Akrapovik exhaust will be

Nice!
What spec did you order? Any idea of the lead time? My pre facelift was pretty quick, ordered last Nov, got it Feb just gone

Tech pack delivery quote 3 to 4 months , apparently it can take a few weeks getting it from the docks to the dealers

4100 euros wow they are having a laugh
Ridiculous yes, surprising no. I think VW were asking 3700 euro for the Akrapovic system as a factory fit option for the Golf R back in 2020. Even used ones are up to £3k on Ebay!

And bland as ****.

This Joe Achilles vid does show even he was surprised by its bland front
It looks the same inside lol
He only commented on the slightly suspect new Audi rings and the lack of an S3 badge on the front. I would agree with him (based purely on photos) but I think the new front grill front is otherwise fine. And I suspect that Audi might add an S3 badge (based on press comments) before it is officially released. It may be undistinguishable from an FL A3 (from the front) but many prefer the sleeper/understated look anyway. Would definitely not be a deal breaker for me if I was in the market for a new S3, especially as it seems to be improved in all important respects: More power, more torque, better brakes, faster/slicker gear changes, better handling (although he couldn't demo that on those small winter tyres) and better quality interior.

And so it should for over 52k

I don’t see any improvement though.

A door card stamped out with a hundred or so little ‘shapes’ to allow the LED light through and some illuminated cup holders.

The front Grill is terrible, shows no hint of an S brand car, it could be any 8Y of an flavour.

I see they still insist on having that black plastic insert in the rear bumper.

Value for money ? Certainly not, base spec £47k car is gonna be painful and not desirable when you come to move it on.

All the real improvement is they’ve given it the torque splitter albeit in 75% form.
But even that is a bit of a gimmick and the Golf 8 R had that from the start anyway.

Its a small improvement over the pfl I guess but its got a massive price increase to go with it .

I'am not keen on the front grill either and how the rings are positioned
I can't get my head around why it doesn't have a front S3 badge .

Like you say the torque splitter is just a gimmick that I wouldn't even use .

Ive owned my s3 over 5 years now and even tho its been nice not having any payments for
over 2 years I am ready to get something new I might wait and see what the new Golf R has to offer
but I guess that will be crazy money and have its own software issues etc

I like how it hits the limiter in manual mode and doesn’t auto shift like it should have always done in manual mode. The exhaust didn’t sound much different other then the dsg farts were louder. Metal paddle shifts were nice too

Metal paddle shifts were nice too. I’m sure the American current S3 had bigger drilled brake discs so will the uk version even have those brakes or be same as current s3?

Cupra are really doing more interesting cars than Audi.

all things being equal, if there was little or no increase in the price the upgrade could be worth while, but going on what my dealer says a similar spec S3 to my pre facelift will be well over €80k when orders open here in Ireland. WTF!
It will be interesting to see what they do with the RS3.

Have fun with current Seat build quality. Reversing cameras dropping off etc.

Also the new Leon front end looks like a mess, way overdone. The original one is good looking but they say the central screen system is even more unbearable than the one in Volkswagen. Guess that's been improved with the facelift though. I can say the same about the Formentor, now there's way too much going on.

That Joe's video makes me again more unsure with the 8Y facelift. The rear looks nice and the interior too, but the more I look at the front the more it looks off. Seeing it from different angles makes it look like it pushes too much forward, which the oddly placed rings underline.

Now that all the Golf related models have been facelifted I can say only the Golf looks really better than the original one. Not much changed in Octavia but the lights look like they've been changed because something have to, the Leon lower bumper gape is ridiculous and the Audi, what's been said...

Prices out today in Ireland the akrapovic exhaust is 7400 euro.

Money well spent... I don't get that, why even offer an upgrade that pricey? If you have the money to throw in, you'll definitely not be after an S3.

That’s ridiculous! ,
I see they had a high degree of attention to detail on the Audi website, looks like they forgot to photoshop something

Prices out in Finland too, starting from about 69 000 €. Did a quick configuration adding just some kind of necessary stuff and it says 77 700 €. The performance exhaust (doesn't say it's Akrapovic, guess it still is) costs 5140 here - without a tax. Add it to configuration an price goes up 7000 €!

I think we won't be seeing these more than the old ones. My guess would be under 20 units sold during the whole time it's available.

Can't quite understand why the prices in Euro-land are so high. You can't configure a facelift S3 on the UK Audi site yet, but it says the OTR starting price will be £47,520. A straightforward currency conversion translates to about 55,400 euro, so why the huge discrepancy? Do Audi price according to what they think their potential customers in each country can afford? Seems unlikely.

Finland with its 5,5 million inhabitants is saving the entire climate of the planet all alone, so we have very effective taxes to restrain our will to buy cars with high emissions. The CO2 limit is very low and the tax progression very steep. The price before tax for S3 is 50 400 € and the starting tax is over 18 000 €. That creates a situation where some cars are way over the price their target customers are able or willing to pay. Base A3 35TFSI tax is only 3500 €.
