    Disconnecting MAF

I disconnected mine when I wasn't sure it was running right. The car didn't feel any slower. Hmmm. After reconnecting it, the car took a mile or so to get better, then it seemed to be good for a bit before dropping off again. Funnily enough, there was a MAF error code when I went to the...

    Bye Bye S3.....

[ QUOTE ] Remember to get aftermarket indicators fitted! [/ QUOTE ] I better call the salesman now, completely forgot about that. Didn't even notice on the test drive. Oh no, I'm converted already!!!

    Bye Bye S3.....

[ QUOTE ] Make sure you keep the silver mirrors for the BMW bling... It's a sensible choice though, my former boss had a 330 and it was in many respects everything an M3 is but without some ultimate pace and grip. They are much faster than their power figures would have you beleive, handle...

    Bye Bye S3.....

The time has come. The S3 has to go. This is a very long post, so if you don't want to read it all, here's the short story. I've bought a (used) BMW 330Ci to try a different driving experience for a couple of years. The long story. It's nagged me for a while, but I've come to realise several...

Brembo's are fitted - Big Brakes Rock!

[ QUOTE ] On a recent track day myself and Mark ran our S3s, Marks was more tailhappy underbraking on an off camber corner than my S3 suggesting bias had moved forwards. [/ QUOTE ] Er, wasn't that yours was more tail happy? Certainly felt that way from the passenger seat!

    Am I being paranoid?

Since having my car back for a few days I've noticed (once I had turned the stero down!) the turbo/air moving noise is a lot more than I remember it being, especially going off throttle. Since my car had a new passenger wing and bumper off for re-spray, is it all possible that a hose would...

    TomTom Go Mount

Anand, I hope it's not to early to declare it a full success, but this morning it did stick to the right hand side of the windscreen and made it all the way to work. It wouldn't stick at all before. The real test is whether it's still stuck there when I leave tonight. Before I stuck it on a...

    TomTom Go Mount

Got a TomTom Go for Christmas. It's great, except that I can't get it mounted anywhere that it'll stick. The supplied sucker mount won't entertain the bottom right of the windscreen. The center kinda works for about 40 mins at most before it falls off. I read that a few folk had it mounted...

Was it ever going to be anything else than some kind of 911 Only thing I don't understand is the colour, but it's good to know that's one 911 that will be used properly Enjoy! It's lovely! Can't wait to see it at the next meet.

    Finally Caught Speedin... BAH!

Bad luck Wizard. I nearly got done last night on the motorway. Was dark and suspicious of the dual passengered car behind keeping a constant distance. Should have slowed and moved in, I know... Passed other traffic at a little over 70 past the markings they use, then blatted to about 85 for the...

4 Wheel Drive, is it working???

Dan, switch off the ESP (if you have it), and boot it in the wet. If the fronts spin and keep spinning, well it's not working. If all is working well, they may momentarily spin before the Haldex wakes up and shifts torque to the rear. It should then just take off. You don't need a mad clutch...

    Shocks and lowering

Guess I'm looking for a good argument as to why it's worth changing springs (+tie bars). I think Nervus is right that the lowered car is probably a bit better purely by the lower center, but how much? I'd actually rather not have the car lowered, hence it would need a decent handling improvement...

    Shocks and lowering

Other than cosmetic, is there any particular reason to fit new springs to the S3 for handling improvement? I think everyone is agreed that the bilstein dampers make a huge difference to the S3, especially when combined with stronger anti-roll bars. But what about the springs? Some have said...
