Hi,

I've read online that you can make VAG mods such as:
- making the exterior mirrors face downwards when you select reverse.
- show oil temp / lap times.

Anyone in the UK done anything similar?
Will the dealer do this or need to find a specialist?

Everyone must be on holiday, as there are usually loads of offers of help regarding things like this.

I've done it along with loads of other vag-com tweaks.

You just need to find someone local to you with Vag-Com (now called VCDS). Some dealers will but most won't.

Check out rosstech

as they manufacture vag com leads and software...its basically a program thayou download install on your pc and use a cable to plug into your cars interface. The programs free but the cable is about 300 squid.Contact NHN on this site to purchase!Chech audizine.com...the yanks are mad for buggering about with modding
Cool VAG-COM codes
I know that the reversing mirror thing only works properly if your car has come with memory seats though.

Properly yes but I find it very useful without memory.

The difference is that you can not set the point to which is drops. My wife uses it all the time though.

I've found (by accident) that the reversing mirror works if you have the electric mirror adjuster set in the left hand adjustment position, but stays as is if adjuster is in middle (off) postion.

It simply means once you've activated the mirror dip via VAG-COM, it only operates when the mirror controller switch is pointing to the near side mirror. If it's not then the mirror dip doesn't happen.

Yes.... Not one of my more 'eloquent' posts...!! But Scotty interpreted well. :)

However I've never had vag-com on my car, so it must have come out the factory with the facility enabled??

Yup - the Vag-com tweak it to get the auto dip that comes with memory seats without having to buy memory seats. The down side is because there's no memory, you can't specify and store the dip position. It just goes to a default dipped position and then returns to your normal driving position when you drive off.
