Why do diesels smoke when air-con is switched on? or shouldnt they? im just curious as my tdi smokes more when aircon is on (black smoke)

TBH I haven't noticed, but I'm going to look tomorrow. I guess the engine is under more load with the air con on so it needs to burn more diesel and creates more smoke.

maybe so........if you stand outside and rev it you'll notice,and also leave it on idle and you should see smoke if you look carefully,or if you boot it alot more than usuall

again have not noticed this, although saying that i always leave a cloud of smoke behind at traffic lights.

I guess those with a DPF will smoke less too, just to confuse matters.

I just put my rear blind up and you can't see it
