Just bought some genuine front carpet mats from my local dealer for my 1996 A4.
There are two plastic lugs that come out of the floor covering but the fixings on the new mats don't seem to push over these lugs, they have a sort of slotted screw type fixing that you would turn 90 degrees to lock into place.
Could they have sold me the later type (98-2001) mats?

Hi Eddy,
Similar problem myself. The fixings on the floor are 'mushroom' and the current mats just clip on but both new sets of mats I've been sent don't come with those fixings..? I'm going to my dealer next Monday and will show them the exact fittings I need.
Did yours also have a thread on the top side of the screw bit but nothing to screw to it..?

I'll keep you posted

Couldn't be bothered to go back to the dealers so I just trimmed the mushroom shaped lugs a bit with a craft knife and filed out the centre of the new fixings so that they 'snapped' over the lugs. Don't think I will ever get the bottom part back off again but the top of the fixings just push on so I can remove the mats now and again for cleaning.
