Weak 6th gear

My 99 apy s3 pulls well up the gears untill 6th and feels really flat and sometimes if I let off the power and go back on straight away it pulls again.Anyone got any ideas why ?

I thought that too lol but it is definetly flat in 6th

i thought 6th gear was a relatively long gear anyway for high speed cruising?

simple solution, drop it into a gear where the torque and boost is and away you go

Not that easy if you have redlined it all the way up 6th

When I run out of 5th gear and go into 6th with foot planted it feels dead like nothing is happening

Bit strange. If not fuel, in high gears power drops you'd also need to look at turbo leaks/cracks or clutch slips as you would be putting the car under maximum duress but, on this occasion, neither would seem apt if you can simply lift the foot and plant again with power then coming through.

You probably need to get it on a rolling road with a tuner and assess it all.

Was just about to say egt (exhaust gas temperature) protection as when pulling that hard for that long will be dumping fuel to try and cool things down which will also kill power where its running rich

Do you run a fmic or an aftermarket downpipe? If not your egt's will be very high when redlined all the way to 6th

No I don't run either so probably the problem

S3 remapped should have good strong pull in all gears, mine does, best starting point is to do some logging in VAG-COM and post the results, sounds like you have a problem somewhere for sure
