Xenon Range Control Fault ~ Scary

For the 2006 module do you mean 8P>0< 907 357 F ? As the 8P3 part isn't a valid part number. If so, it was fitted to the A3 between 2004-2007. It was superseded by G, H, J, L and M

8P3 907 357 was fitted between 2009-2013. It was superseded by A and B.

Therefore though all are probably compatible and it's not clear what the difference is, the B version is the latest revision and so I would stick with that for now, subject to my previous post regarding the canbus
Thanks for your reply @MT-V6
Yes the part number for the 2006 is 8P0…
Also the instructions from kufatec say that the coding should be 0000003 for vehicles up to 2009 and when I try this with the module 8P3907357B it won’t accept it.
I’m pretty sure the wiring is correct at the canbus gateway (or as sure as the kufatec cables are) I will investigate that too.. there were 2 cables going to the canbus can high and can low to pins 16 and 6. I’m kinda running out of options here and it’s really frustrating as I love those lights and wanted to finish the retrofit properly and keep the cost as low obviously . Now waiting for the A version of the levelling controller but don’t know if that’s going to make a difference.
Any ideas as to why I can’t change the

Any ideas as to why I can’t change the coding to 0000003 or 0000001 on the module ending with B!?

Something that might make sense for the angle sensor fault. I only get it with the old 2006 module and not with the newer 8P3 ones.

Yes the gateway pins 6 and 16 are correct, I was wondering if you were on another canbus which allowed you to see the module over diagnostics but the module wasn't recieving the steering angle data. Probably worth double checking this just to be 100% sure

I don't think you will have any luck with the A module as they all supersede which means they should all be interchangeable

As for the coding I am not sure. What error do you get? I have a TT so mine is coded as 0000010 so obviously different, but the module is the same. I have the B revision you mention

I think with a 2009 car you'll have a gen3 steering rack, which I don't have. This has an integrated steering angle sensor. Can you give me the part numbers for your steering assist 44 and steering wheel 16 modules?

Ok so what errors do you get with the B module? Any fault codes, or just not able to save the coding?

I have just checked and these are the valid A3 8P codings:
0000001 for FWD
0000002 for quattro
0000012 for single frame grille
0000013 for the cabrio

Coding 0000003 you are trying is actually for an A6. I am not sure why the single frame grille is listed, maybe it just refers to being a facelift car? Can you try that out and see if it saves?

check attached photo for fault code. I haven’t tried 0000012 but will do tomorrow as I’m at work till 6am. Again thanks a lot for your time mate. I only tried 0000003 cause that’s what it said on the kufatec instructions which is odd! It says models up to 2009 inclusive it’s 0000003 and from 2010 it’s 0000013.
Do you think the only reason it won’t let me do the adjusting of the headlights is the coding?

Attached this time is the canbus gateway that pins 6 and 16 went in. I had to breach the existed wiring as these pins were taken already but kufatec advised to either breach or replace.
Also would the fault code point to a sensor? I get readings from both and they do change when you move the car. (Although they are not genuine as I couldn’t afford at the minute but that shouldn’t matter)

Those codings I gave you are based on the vcds labels file for the B revision module, and I'd be more included to trust that than kufatec

Which module did you have fitted for that error in the screenshot? All that error means is that basic settings needs to be run and it should clear. Run that with the car on a flat surface

I try to run it but it fails. It won’t do it! When I try it it clears the fault for a split second then it fails and bring up the fault on the dash again. I got that fault code with all the modules. Just another thing out of curiosity what amp fuse are you using for this? I have a 10amp (red) fuse is this alright?
I will try the 0000012 first thing when I get back from work

Yeah try coding it and try basic settings and see what happens. I have a 5 amp fuse I think, I'm pretty sure that's what is fitted as OEM too, so you can probably go down to 5 amp too

So, tried coding again with module 8P3 907 357 B and no joy. It won’t do the level adjusting. It just says failed. I also get the below fault code from can. Could that be related???

I would definitely check out the wires between the xenon module and the gateway. You shouldn't be getting a gateway error from this install

Gateway pin 6 (orange/brown) to xenon pin 3
Gateway pin 16 (orange/black) to xenon pin 2

Also add module 55 to the gateway installation list of you haven't already

Will do and will report back as soon as. Also there is this weird thing with the levelling sensors. Front is not reading and rear says 0.0 not sure what this is about..! And again thanks so much for your help mate. I owe you a few pints

Hi all again @MT-V6 wiring looks ok I think. From what I can see I’m not sure that there is something wrong? Unless i shouldn’t have soldered the canbus wires?

Those measuring blocks are a bit strange, if need to check mine to see what it says. I have a feeling one of mine says not installed, but with it disconnected there is a different error. Having both connected allowed basic settings.

As for the canbus, I can't make it which pins are what, but soldering is fine. Are the new wires twisted between the gateway and the xenon module?

Do you have a multimeter to test continuity of those wires too?

Did you manage to update the module coding?

I checked the wires and they are connected in the correct places. I don’t have a multimeter but a friend does and this is my next step. The 8P3 module doesn’t let me have 0000001 but I can have 0000012 or 0000013 but it doesn’t make a difference as I still can’t do the basic settings adjustment.
Quick question: what if I remove the original wire from canbus 6 and 16 and just plug the new ones with a new crimp? Do I have to keep those old ones?

Yes you would need to keep the originals as they go to the other modules on the car. I can't really thing of anything else to check. See how it goes with the multimeter
