My 1999 a3 has an issue with both the front and rear wipers...the fronts seem slow no matter what speed position I set the stalk to and the rear wiper seems to stop for a brief second several times during each wipe...any help please guys

Suspect theses are two separate problems.

Slow front wipers is usually caused by corrosion in the linkage.

You can clean and grease the linkage, you need to remove the wipers, then the scuttle panel. There are 3 screws holding the linkage and motor in, and the electrical connector.

Once the linkage is out of the car you will see two c clips holding the pins the wipers connect onto into the aluminium casting, if you remove these you can tap the pins out. They will most likely be badly corroded and can be cleaned up with a light oil and wet+dry paper.
Grease the pins up, reassemble and be amazed at how much faster your wipers are!

Ok so I'll try that for the fronts, any ideas what could be causing the problem with the back wiper?
