Convertible led interior light?

Anyone converted their convertible interior light to led?

I fitted these below but because the metal base is quite long it takes the led part further away from the clear lens.

I've got LEDs in mine and I think there aweful the light output is really poor. I have to use the sunvisor nights(which have LEDs in as well) if I want to read anything in the car. May just be that the bulbs I out in them are rubbish as my footwell, puddle and sunvisor LEDs are great

The link looks decent, but you could just grab another pair from Ebay with a shorter base? There's so much variety out there, there's bound to be one that sit perfect with the clear lens. (Hoping)

Couldnt find any with a shorter base as that was my first thought.

That's surprising! Im going to be doing the same at some point so if I find any I will report back here.

those small led smd panels are super bright, I used them a while back and do recommend them, thought they were great. But most leds ain't suitible as interior lights, In saying that I did have led smds In the reg plate but were full units and were shockingly bright they would light up the road behind but were not cheap.

heres a pic to give you an idea of how bright, i know these are reg plate units but similar smd leds.

They are really bright but we already have led number plate lights that are just right.

Its the interior light that isnt bright enough.

Ah so those number plate lights are using the type I linked too as they would be ideal for the inside

they are similar mate, I have also used one of those panels before and from memory are smd leds, and so should be as bright. The panels come with a selection of connectors too, they are cheap and effective I have seen them for under a fiver bud.

The reg plate smd leds shown in my pics are sealed units and cost me about £30 but as said were smd so mega bright.

Good post..wow they are bright! But I dont see how that's a big deal especially when its pitch black at night. Good install.

Having used the car tonight and having to use the light to look for something I dropped they are absolutely fine.

Will be doing the other one this week.
