confirm part number and location, because this is for the S3/TT,
but the principle should be the same.
Sensors for S3/TT are circa £20
They are dual items. One for Ecu, one for dash coolant display.

mine was under reading by about 5degC and a diagnostic confirmed the fault. changing the sender (located by the cylinder head) can be a bit fiddly but is certainly do-able at home. you may want to do a coolant change at the same time, ceratinly you'll loose a bit of coolant when you remove the old sender.
