Tried searching to no avail for a current thread that answers this. Does the current infotainment system (Tech pack high with connect) finally show album artwork from an iPod classic? If so is there a specific cable I need to make sure I have? Will be so frustrated if the latest version still doesn't do this after happily having album art showing in my BMW for the last few years!

you'll need a certain colour AMI lead. I'm sure @veeeight will be able to tell you. It usually is the yellow one that does everything.

Thanks. Most threads seem very confusing. Audi website does too! If I can't get this feature on the new model I'll be livid!

Actually, @JohnnyM100 is the AMI cable specialist on this forum ;)

But nevertheless, if it is a "Classic" (I have no idea on generation numbers) then you need the Blue 30 pin AMI cable.

Yellow collar AMI cable is only good for devices with Apple Lightning connector, not 30-pin ;)

But - these threads suggests that no Classic will support Album Artwork with AMI, or only "reduced" - see bottom thread

Sounds clear as mud. Can't believe I could still be in same situation and have no artwork display. Don't suppose anyone has tried getting an AMI to USB adapter and simply plugged their iPod Classic into it that way? The BMW has a USB port in the arm rest which you just plug the iPod classic into using a standard third party usb to 30 pin connector and hey presto, typical functionality WITH artwork display.

The one with the blue collar works fine with the ipod classic.

To get artwork tick the reduced artwork option within the MMI Menu.

I have a 160Gb classic will check when I get home later but think it's green and can confirm that you don't get the artwork. To be honest I've practically abandoned it and have moved over to two 64Gb SD cards A-M in slot 1 and N-Z in slot 2 they seem to work much better and faster.

Just read the above I'll give that a try too.

Just checked mine is indeed blue and with the Detailed Track Information box ticked I DO get the album artwork.

Thanks for checking - major news this if you look at other threads. So glad i'll get artwork, it looks so cheap to miss it off!

Actually - if you have it and are in the mood for experimentation, do you know what happens if you use the MMI adapter cable with the USB connection and then connect your ipod classic to that?

Sorry for bringing this up again but I too am not getting album artwork via an iPhone 4 plugged in to the AMI. Currently using an Audi supplied black cable. Do I need another type of cable or do I need to enable some option? Advice most appreciated.
