Hi all

Apologies to post another thread on this subject, but searching hasn't provided me with the answer I'm looking for.

In short, my 2009 2.0 TDi 140 is due a cambelt / timing belt change.

When searching for a replacement part to have fitted at my local (and trusted) garage, I'm getting a bit confused as to which is the right part to select!

After using this useful link, I get the following info:

acvcx0.jpg

However from searching these in eBay, none seem to be the right application?

Also when I've had a quote from an independent garage to do the belt and water pump, they've provided what appear to be VW part numbers, and I'm not sure how to find whether they correlate exactly to Audi part no's.

These were: 03L198119 cambelt and 03L121011BX water pump, based on providing them with my vehicle's registration number.

When I contacted an Audi online specialist, they wouldn't give me the part number for the timing belt kit or the water pump.

I know there's a debate over the 'quality' of OE branded parts actually being made by the same manufacturer of replacement items, just in a different box. However as a first port of call I'm trying to get the "right" items.

I'd be grateful for any assistance that you more knowledgeable members may have.

Thanks

buy the whole kit from vw/audi/seat/skoda via your vin number. mine is booked in on thursday and i'll be getting the parts from vw.

the engines are shared across the VAG group, just because its a VW part number doesn't mean it won't fit yours.

Get it from tps. Its a lot cheaper. They will tell you the exact part you need too

Or if you ask mjr901 on here he does parts and will send them out to you

Thanks both for your replies.

Good point Darren92, how did yours go in the end? Was the kit via VW cheaper than through Audi?

Zerocool - I did see TPS mentioned when searching the forum, but after searching the web it looks like you need to be a dealer / member of some sort to get the items. Have you already gone about doing this?

Message will be on it's way to mjr901 !

If anyone else knows of where to get the correct OE parts but not through Audi, it would be appreciated.

My parts bill which included the full cam belt kit inc tensioners etc was £77.62, the water pump was £31.66 and the auxiliary belt was £16.86 :)

Audi couldn't even get close. That's for a 1.9 TDI, the 2.0 CR won't be much different.

I'm not a dealer or anything and i buy parts off them. Worth asking at your local

So to round off this thread...

Contacted TPS and the prices quoted were about the same as Audi main dealers - belt kit £230 + VAT and water pump £43 + VAT (pump on an exchange basis). Obviously not receiving any kind of discount, so perhaps it's who you know.

As advised, contacted mjr901 on here. Not only was he very helpful in confirming the part numbers that I needed, but also pointed out where to find the best priced items.

So it turns out that for a 2009 TDi 140, 03L198119 cambelt and 03L121011(GX/BX?) waterpump are the correct part codes, and will now be ordering the pump for about £50 and the belt kit for £100. Result!

Thanks guys for your help.

This should be what you were looking for:
http://shop.ahw-shop.de/audi-a3-tdi-zahnriemensatz-wasserpumpe-original-2.0tdi-140ps-bmm?c=2910

Also it would be wise to change the alternator belt:

And the alternator belt tensioner:

Hey, thanks s3facelift09 !

That looks like a really helpful site.

Do you have any experience with buying from them? Good or bad, it'd be good to hear!

Thanks

I've bought parts several times off them. They are a highly trusted company and an official Audi/VW Dealer in Germany. I had no problem's what so ever. They support paypal payments, so you are covered with paypal protection anyway.
And I have to point out one thing, every time I needed something it was never listed on their web shop (not everyday parts), I would get the part numbers of the items I needed, and I would email them, they would respond with the prices of the items and with shipping costs to my country, and I would just pay by paypal, and there was never any issues.
If all the parts you need are listed on their web shop, you just need to register and complete the purchase. Just check the engine code and the part numbers so that everything fits as it should.

P.S. on the first link to the cambelt+waterpump, beneath the price, it's written: zzgl. Pfand 75,00 €, that's a security deposit that you also have to pay immediately, so it's 191,90 + 75,00 €, and you have to send them back your old waterpump, and when they receive it, they will return the 75 euro deposit to you. That's normal procedure. If you were to change the cambelt at the dealers, you would also have a price of the waterpump with or without returning your old one to them. It would be higher without returning, and of course lower with returning your old one to them.

Much appreciated, thanks for the info.

In the end I got a water pump from Audi, out of convenience and because it was the same price as TPS... as you say, just need to return my old pump to get refunded the surcharge!
